ACKNOWLEDGMENT

First, I want to thank God Almighty for bringing me this far and keeping me sound and safe with
good lite during the entire field attachment period.

The development of this report took the effort, support and guidance of a number of people
whom I wish to thank.

I wish to pay tribute to my attachment supervisor, Mr. Yaw SAFO Kantanka who edited my
submitted copies and guided me on ways of improving my skills.

I also say a big thank you to the entire Ghana Communication Technology University Lecturers
particularly those from the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems for their constructive
training and the knowledge they have imparted in me.

ABSTRACT
I really appreciate the opportunity to partake in this industrial training. This training was an
important period in my life. And I had my internship at Kantanka Printing and Computer Repairs.

My internship duration was eight weeks. During the eight weeks I did my training in five sections:
• Support Section
• Network Section
• Server Section
• Application Section
• Help Desk Section

Taking the chance to be in touch with the real life of the work environment was a great deal for
me. During my internship I applied what I studied in GCTU practically.

I learn more about IT Department and how this department manages a whole institution.

Moreover, internship builds on my extensive range of IT skills. It improved my IT skills, also


working with groups of employees helped me to know the best way of dealing with other. In
addition, the internship improves my self-independent skills, and helps me to know how to
manage time to finish tasks on time.

You will find in this report the entire task I did during the eight weeks internship at the IT
Department.

I listed down all the courses that I studied with brief information of each course.

CHAPTER ONE

1.1 INTRODUCTION

This report presented information about my internship in Kantanka Printing And Computer
Repairs. The internship was within eight weeks. During the nine weeks I moved from a section
to
another. The sections that I had my internship are: Help Desk, Support, Server, Application, and
Network.

In each section I learned something new, each day I was learning new things, you will find
information about the work that I did during the internship.

I dealt with different software and


hardware requirements that I listed in this report. The courses I studied at GCTU helped me more
during the internship, so I listed them in this report with brief information about each course.

1.2 KANTANKA PRINTING AND COMPUTER REPAIRS

The Kantanka Printing and Computer is located in Ada, Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The printing press and computer repairs company was established in the year 2000 by Mr. George
Osafo at Koforidua. Mr. George later on handed over to his son, Yaw SAFO Kantanka to manage.

Kantanka Printing and Computer Repairs is a full-service commercial printing company. where
“Service” is the operative word. The company brings together the latest in printing and pre-press
technology with a somewhat old-fashioned approach to customer service.

Kantanka Printing and Computer Repairs has grown from a small quick printing company to a
full-service commercial printing company that accommodates the local, regional and international
printing needs of its customers.

With a full range of modern digital, pre-press, press, bindery, and mailing services, we have the
expertise and experience to deliver on all your print communication needs.

It’s not just about getting the ink on paper.

Kantanka Printing and Computer Repairs help identify opportunities to get customers satisfied.

Computer REPAIRS Printing, UV Coating, Die Cutting, Saddle and Mechanical Binding, and
Mailing.

The attachment period lasted 8-weeks at the Information Technology Department from the 1'
November 2021 to 31* December 2021

DATA COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKS I II
Data communications refers to the transmission of this digital data between two or more computers
and a computer network or data network is a telecommunications network that allows computers
to exchange data. This course helps me to assign internet protocol (IP) address to users and also
termination of rj-45 cables during my internship.

COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE
Computer architecture is a set of rules and methods that describe the functionality, organization,
and implementation of computer systems. This course helped me to organized pc and set it up for
staffs.

COMPUTER SECURITY
I learn about protection of computer systems and information from harm, theft, and unauthorized
use. This course helps me to assist users on how to protect the pc and data.

SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND DESIGN


In this course I learned how to manage data, information processing and data system. It helped me
to understand the requirement for information system of an organization.

FRENCH I I IM
This course helps me to communicate with clients who speaks French only

1.6 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS GAINED

Technical skills– The main motive of industrial training is to provide all the technical knowledge
to the students that they are unable to get in their respective colleges. During my training I helps
was able to become technically sound. Moreover, I was given an opportunity to work on live
projects, which enhanced my learning ability.

Communication skills– Communication skills are very important for a student; therefore, during
my training I was able to improve upon my communications skills. Having good communication
ability will likely to guarantee a long-term success in the company, as successful communication
is very important in any business.

Teamwork– Apart from gaining technical and communication skills, I was also able to gain a lot
of team work skill. I was able to learn how to work in the team and maintain decorum of the office.
Teamwork is all about building positive work relationships.

Confidence-When I start my training, I was able to develop good confidence. Confidence to talk
to others, confidence to talk to your colleagues and all other that are working with me.

Problem solving skills– During my training, multiple tasks, and jobs were given to the to me
which helped me to improve upon my thinking skills. As a result, things were easy for me.

2.0 CONCLUTION

In conclusion, I will say the real world is different from school activities or the school world which
provides mostly theoretical knowledge, my internship provided opportunities to explore fields of
interest, as well as learn from professionals and develop network contacts. I was highly satisfied
with the practical experiences gained.

2.1 RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the work load should be share accordingly to workers.
