First of all, I am from Ukraine and in my opinion: English is very important

today. It is like a bridge that connects people, nations and countries. It is the
language of business, commerce, politics, sports, fashion, culture and glamour.
Without knowledge of English, it is impossible to find a good job and succeed
in your future career. Independent Ukraine has relations with many countries of
the world. Recently, hundreds of joint ventures have appeared in every city and
village of Ukraine. Many foreign delegations come to our country. Our
businessmen and tourists go abroad. Now many people are studying foreign
languages in every possible way. I believe that English is worth learning. There
is a saying: "New language - new world".
I have been studying English for nine years and it was my favorite subject at
school. I learned my first English words and expressions at the age of 8 with the
help of colorful books and various songs in elementary school. I had five
English lessons a week. We read and discussed texts, practiced listening and
writing, did many grammar and vocabulary exercises. My favorite exercise in
English lessons was discussion.
I really like movies and TV series, especially with English actors. I often
surf the Internet and find interesting sites about them. It is not a problem for me
to read information in English.
Having reached the 9th grade, I decided to go to the lyceum because of the
bad atmosphere at school. There I discovered German and completely immersed
myself in it, but because of the constant pressure of my parents to learn English,
I stopped learning it. But having finished my bachelor's degree, I realized that I
adore English, so now I am ready to connect my future with this language.
In short, I use every opportunity to practice English and develop my
reading, writing and listening skills. My goal is to become a fluent speaker and
a good translator.
