AR400 / AR450
Hot-rolled, abrasion-resistant coil in unique dimensions for
efficient processing
Tata Steel is expanding its range of high-strength steels with the
introduction of abrasion-resistant hot-rolled coil in the 400 and 450
Brinell hardness ranges. The product developments target a unique
dimensional capability in hot-rolled abrasion-resistant coil. About three
times as hard as grade 50, this product allows for thinner gauges and
lightweighting whilst providing excellent abrasion and wear resistance.
Applications include dump truck bodies, asphalt finishers, mining,
screening and forestry equipment.
The coil can be cut into specific lengths to match your exact
requirements - adding more flexibility and reducing waste through the
supply chain when compared to discrete plate. Also, the cut-to-length
sheet delivers an excellent surface quality with better thickness control
compared to plate. This could reduce additional processing steps like
shot blasting.
Consistent product properties and reliable material thickness allow
trouble-free, repeatable processing. AR400 and AR450 offer good
weldability and have been designed for thermal cutting processes
including laser and (micro) plasma methods.
