TWO MORE DAYS REMAIN TO ATTEND 2023 ROYAL OAK TACO FEST
Offering good weather, great vibes and amazing tacos
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – With expected clear and sunny skies over downtown Royal Oak for the
next two days, organizers of the Royal Oak Taco Fest today announced there is plenty of time for
visitors to come out and party like a “guac” star at this deliciously fun-filled street festival feature
tantalizing tacos and tequila, live local music and showstopping entertainment.
Thousands of visitors and attendees have already enjoyed this year’s festival, taking place
through July 4, in and around Centennial Commons in downtown Royal Oak. More than 40
musical acts are still set to entertain attendees over the next two days, along with mariachi, Lucha
Libre wrestlers showing off their high-flying choreographed maneuvers, colorful masks and
spandex outfits and, of course, tacos — with more than 50 of the finest taquerias, taco trucks and
other eateries featuring steak, pork, fish, chicken and vegetarian options, along with plenty of
other choices.
The following is the list of the participating food trucks, taquerias and eateries:
TEQUILA!
Plenty of refreshing adult beverage options made with sponsored tequila brands Altos Plata,
Espolon and Hornitos that pair perfectly with tacos are available at every bar. And in the
Tequila! Tequila! Cantina, nine premium sipping tequilas for enthusiasts to sample will be
offered, including, Codigo Rose Blanco, Espolon Cristalino Anejo, Hornito’s Repo and
Montelobos Mezcal.
At the Margarita Fro-Zone, festivalgoers can cool off with the popular cocktail either frozen or on
the rocks. A variety of flavors will be offered, including strawberry, mango and raspberry.
ACTION-PACKED EVENTS
Attendees can enjoy hours of action-packed entertainment at this year’s Royal Oak Taco Fest.

Daily Contests
Attendees who like it hot, hot, hot and are daring enough to take the challenge of conquering the hottest
hot sauces can enter on a first come, first serve basis the Hot Sauce Competition presented by Kroger
and Brewt’s. Participants will be challenged to eat tortilla chips dipped in different hot sauces made from a
variety of peppers that increase in heat on the Scoville scale, while answering a few “burning” questions.
For those who think they have what it takes to eat three tacos as fast as they can without using water are
encouraged to participate in the Taco-Eating Competition presented by Condado Tacos Royal Oak.
Contestants who successfully finish eating all three tacos in their entirety without leaving behind a shred of
lettuce or cheese will receive vouchers for food trucks within the festival and two VIP tickets to Soaring
Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats for the night of their choice.
Buskers
The Motley Misfits are proud to present Paige Ablaze, performing fire bending danger acts like fire eating;
Chuck Clark, known for juggling just about anything, performing stunts involving a bed of nails, bullwhip
targets and knife balancing; Ric Roc Circus, a variety performance act that will include balloon swallowing
and juggling sharp objects like swords and saws; and a stilt walking cowgirl showing off her lassoing
skills and demonstrating how to use a cowboy’s yo-yo.
Axe Throwing
Attendees can visit the HUB Stadium’s Mobile Axe Throwing Trailer to bring out their inner lumberjack.
Participants can sign up onsite to throw some axes in 15-minute increments. Hub Stadium AXEperts will
be on hand to help axe throwers safely hit their mark.
FAMILY FUN-FOCUSED
Centennial Commons is the place to be for all the free kids’ activities. The large space will allow
for an expanded Kids Zone sponsored by the Royal Oak DDA with bounce houses, hands-on
arts and crafts activities, face paintings and more. It’s also home to the Royal Oak DDA Kids
Stage featuring live interactive entertainment.
Families soaking up every minute of fun at the fest are encouraged to bring along swimwear for
the kiddos to don in the park’s very own water-jet play area, where they can cool off during an
afternoon in the summer sun by simply pressing, spraying and playing on repeat.
FESTIVAL ADMISSION
“Taco Tuesday” tickets can be purchased in advance through 9 p.m. this evening for $5 per
person or tickets are available at the entrance gates for $12. The fest’s hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
Monday, July 3; and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 4.
