About The Rady School

UC San Diego's School of Management was established in

2001 and was named The Rady School in January, 2004. It
began delivering non-credit executive education in Fall 2003,
launched its FlexMBA program for working professionals in Fall
2004, and will admit its first Full-Time MBAs for Fall 2005. The
Rady School is pioneering the education of tomorrow's
business leaders through an innovative curriculum led by an
internationally recognized faculty.

Revolutionary.
The Rady School is rooted on a campus internationally celebrated for its success in scientific discovery and technological innovation.
Over the course of its short 40-year history, UC San Diego has established itself as a place where the extraordinary is tried and
where the willingness to fail continually results in big wins and breakthrough advances. The San Diego region is home to over 400
life sciences companies and 500 technology companies, as well as leading global research institutions such as the Salk, Scripps,
and Burnham Institutes. The vitality of the science- and technology-focused business community and the intellectual power of the
UC San Diego campus energize the School and our MBA program.

Innovation is UC San Diego’s tradition
UC San Diego is a powerful magnet for those seeking a fresh, next-generation approach to education and research, and Rady MBAs
experience an integrated education based on collaborations across departmental boundaries, without an inhibiting, "siloed"
environment. Since its founding four decades ago, UC San Diego – one of the ten campuses in the world-renowned University of
California system – has rapidly achieved the status of one of the top institutions in the nation for higher education and research. Our
interdisciplinary ethos and tradition of innovation and risk-taking underlie our research strength and our ability to recruit top scholars
and students.

Ten UC San Diego faculty have been awarded the Nobel Prize, with five of them currently on the UC San Diego faculty team. The
University ranks 6th in the nation in the number of faculty elected to the National Academy of Sciences. The National Research
Council, the most respected guide to academic excellence, ranks UC San Diego 10th in the nation in the quality of its faculty and
graduate programs.

Technology in Support of Education

UC San Diego’s tradition of innovation includes experimentation and creativity
in the use of technology to support and expand learning. The Rady School’s
learning management system, RADAR, will steer you through your MBA,
providing supporting materials and tools for all your coursework, an
environment for virtual teamwork, and a portal for interaction with classmates
and faculty. Submit an assignment, get help from a Teaching Assistant, work
on a project with your study group, chat with fellow club members about an
up-coming event; RADAR and the Rady laptop program ensure that you have
the resources you need at your fingertips.

Investing in Your Future:
Financial Aid
Your MBA is an investment of time, energy, and money.
Thinking through how you will finance your studies is an
important part of your decision-making process. The
Rady School is committed to helping you think through
your options, providing resources and advice to assist
you with your financial decisions.

The Rady School provides limited fellowship support

to exceptional individuals admitted to The Rady MBA
Program. The University also provides some funding
through need-based grants to Rady MBAs. Typically,
grants are based on financial need, while fellowships
also consider academic achievement, career success,
and admissions profile. Students should complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All
admitted students are automatically considered for
merit-based fellowships; no additional application is
required.

Loans provide students with the opportunity to defer the

cost of educational expenses by borrowing now and
paying later. Loans are often part of a student's financial
aid award. By borrowing wisely, however, students can
use the competitive interest rates and repayment terms
to their advantage. If you are a US citizen or permanent
resident, we recommend that you apply for the federal
Stafford Loans first, because of favorable interest rates
and origination fees. International students are not
eligible to receive federal funding through these loan
programs. In addition, students may choose private
loans. Private loans are available to both domestic and
international applicants. You should research individual
lending institutions for their respective lending
requirements since interest rates and fees may vary.
For international applicants, these lending institutions
may require that a US citizen co-sign. Information on
private lenders with whom UC San Diego has worked
is available on our website. We encourage you to borrow
only what you need.

A limited number of research assistant and teaching

assistant positions may be available on campus.
Students may apply for these positions once they
arrive on campus.
