“Change is the only constant” the quote which I believe throughout the life. Upon
reaching IIM U a day before the college start with my brother, I found the college
atmosphere to be so weird with environment around me sunny and no greeneries seen as in
picture posted by IIM Udaipur. I was obsessed upon choosing IIM U at that time and now I
feel IIMU suits best for my attire. It all started with first week of SFM (orientation) where the
CSA and other seniors tried their best from the students. Deadlines, Task, Session &
Repercussion were the words that filled the timeline for the week. When asked about the
subsequent week, seniors use to say it will be habituated if you are a student from IIM.
Weeks passed by, but the tensions that creeped into the mind doesn’t went out and it’s
piling up. The sleepless nights, new friends, new food, and new language become my
habitat. The Placecomm induction went off with people getting eliminated after the task that
we suddenly sent at 2am in the morning and deadline was at 6am. At any case of my line, I
haven’t regretted for sleeping between 2am and 6am. It happened and I see people asking
us to vote for the placecomm soapbox by making us wake till 5pm. If the intention was to
eliminate the students from the process, I believe the process should be merit or
quantitative and not based upon the habit of sleep. Later we voted and next day there was
mail from the Placecomm that the person who got selected first, got removed from
placecomm for no external reasons. If you could eliminate a person without letting the exact
reason of elimination, then what is the point in appointing by voting. Soapbox is also the
methodology which could be eradicated. Hearing pitches from the 18-20 people and same
questions repeated from the 2-3 people just to make them noticed among the group of 330
students and wasting the students’ time. I value time more than anything. On the first day of
Induction, Prof lectured to do pre read just not to waste money and time of the entire class.
He split the amount that will be spent for one session and if no pre reads are done, how
much money and time will we be wasting. I hope the concept creator of soapbox has been
absent on that day. Because in soapbox, we are spending 8*18*330 minutes of time for
electing 12 people and eliminating 6 people. Instead, a pitch of 3min on the site page
individually about their statement which can be seen throughout their period will eventually
help the student about their pitching every time. Now various induction from different clubs
and committee were being taking place and I hope I can get into A4 for the next 2 years and
remain an Alumni who worked for Alumni association during my college days. “Time has a
value upon every change happening”.
