I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the experiment students must be able to:

● Identify the different Windows Server Operating System.

● Differentiate the different Windows Server Operating System

II. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Windows Server is a brand name for a group of server operating systems released by
Microsoft. It includes all Windows operating systems branded "Windows Server", but not
any other Microsoft product.

A series of server operating systems developed by Microsoft Corporation. Windows servers

are more powerful versions of their desktop operating system counterparts and are designed
to more efficiently handle corporate networking, Internet/intranet hosting, databases,
enterprise-scale messaging and similar functions.

1. What is the main purpose of having a server Operating System? What is/are the difference of
this “Servers” to “Workstations” Operating System?

A server provides the services which can be requested by workstations. Workstation is a

computer which is used to perform certain tasks and is to be accessed with the use of the internet.

2. What are the things we need to consider in choosing the version of Operating System for our
Server? Why?

We have to consider our hardware because it plays an important role in a server.
