DANIEL VAN HUYSSTEEN, Ph.D.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow – Computational Mechanics

I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg where my research
focuses on developing adaptive remeshing techniques to improve the efficiency of simulations performed using
the virtual element method. I am passionate about mechanics and mechanical systems which lead me to
completing my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. During my studies I grew an interest in computer
programming and numerical methods that motivated me to complete masters and doctoral degrees specializing
in computational mechanics. The results of my masters, doctoral and post-doctoral research have been
INFO published in a variety of high impact peer-reviewed journals and have been presented at a variety of internally
recognized conferences, most recently the ADMOS conference in Gothenburg, Sweden.
