Greetings, distinguished guests, distinguished faculty, and future leaders of tomorrow. I,


[Name], along with my co-host [Name], extend a warm welcome to you all on this special
evening dedicated to the Post Budget Session 2023 on behalf of the Economics Club at IMI
New Delhi.

The Economics Club at IMI New Delhi, as a knowledge-sharing hub, provides a platform for
students to grow and learn through a dynamic array of events and a weekly blog that brings
business and economic principles to life. And the Post-Budget Session is one of its bright
spots, shining a light on the nation's financial landscape and its implications for all of us. So,
without further ado, let us begin this enlightening journey with a video created by our team.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2023 on
Wednesday, the fifth budget of Modi 2.0. She stated in the last full-fledged Budget before
the general elections next year that the Indian economy is on the right track and will have a
bright future.

comprehending the complexities of the Union Budget. We are privileged to have in our
presence today, a multitude of renowned experts from various fields:
1. Dr Alwyn Didar Singh
2. Dr Nilanjan Ghosh
3. Dr Kavita Rao
4. Ms Madhavi Arora
And
5. Mr R.K Anand
Before we begin the session, we would like to briefly introduce our speakers.
1. With great pleasure, we extend our warmest welcome to our esteemed panellist. Dr
Alwyn Didar Singh, Former Secretary to the Government of India and former
Secretary General of the FICCI.
Dr Singh is an expert in e-Commerce, Trade, and Migration strategy. He served as
Secretary of Overseas Indian Affairs and Secretary General of FICCI. He has been
involved with several international organizations including World Economic Forum's
Global Agenda Council on Migration and World Bank's Knowledge Network on
Migration. He has a PhD in Policy and Administration of E-Commerce, has written
several books and received awards for his work.

2. We are delighted to introduce you to our next distinguished panellist Dr Nilanjan


Ghosh, Director, Centre for New Economic Diplomacy, & ORF Kolkata Centre

Dr Ghosh is an experienced economist who previously worked as a Senior Fellow at


ORF and as the Chief Economist at the Multi Commodity Exchange of India. He is also
an accomplished teacher, having taught at various institutions including Linnaeus
University and the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Dr Ghosh is a renowned
expert in ecological economics and has authored 10 books and over 80 peer-
reviewed papers. He has also provided consultancy services for organizations such as
the World Bank.

3. It gives me great honour to introduce our next panellist, Dr Kavita Rao, Director,
National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), New Delhi
Dr Rao’s areas of research and interest are Tax Policy Design, Design and
implementation of Goods and Services Taxes (GST), Impact of tax incentives,
Perceptions on tax compliance & implications. Dr Rao holds a PhD in Economics
from the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta; a Master's & Bachelor’s in Economics
from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi

4. We are delighted to introduce you to our next distinguished panellist, Ms Madhavi


Rao, Lead Economist at Emkay Global Institutional Equities desk.

Ms Arora directs macroeconomic research for India and other major countries,
focusing on policy, foreign exchange, interest rates, and asset allocation strategies.
She has over 13+ years of rich experience as a macroeconomist with reputed banks
and brokerages, namely, Kotak, J.P. Morgan, and Edelweiss. In addition to that she
also has been named by Bloomberg as a top Indian growth forecaster and the top-
ranked woman economist in India.

5. It gives me great honour to introduce our moderator and speaker for the session, Mr
R K Anand, Director, Climate Risk and Finance Council, USA

Mr Anand holds an MBA in Banking & Finance and a Master's in Economics, a Basel
III diploma from IBTA in Florida and several prominent certifications. He is an expert
in the BFSI sector and was previously DGM-head of the Bank’s Strategic
Management & Economic Advisory Division, Corporate Office, PNB.

With this, we conclude our discussion on the Post Budget Session. We hope that the session
