English as a communication tool


In the new general education program, English is the first foreign language
subject, starting from grade 3 to grade 12, defining communication ability as
the goal of the teaching process.
As one of the instrumental subjects in high school, English subject not only
helps students to form and develop their ability to communicate in English,
but also contributes to the formation and development of common
competencies; to live and work more efficiently; to study well in other
subjects as well as for lifelong learning.
The subject of English provides students with an important international
communication tool, helping them exchange information, advanced
scientific and technical knowledge, learn about cultures, thereby
contributing to building a understanding between peoples, forming a sense
of global citizenship, contributing to the development of personal qualities
and capacities.
The core content of the course helps students to form and develop their
communication ability through training in listening, speaking, reading and
writing skills and language knowledge (phonetics, vocabulary, grammar).
Communication skills and language literacy are built on specific
communicative competence units, in topics and themes relevant to high
school students to help them finish primary school. achieves Level 1
communication ability, at the end of secondary school, at Level 2 and at the
end of high school, at Level 3 according to the 6-level Foreign Language
Competency Framework for Vietnam.
Communicative competence is the goal of the teaching process
The program emphasizes the following points: Building on theoretical and
practical foundations, updating achievements of modern science;
communication capacity is the goal of the teaching process; language
knowledge is a means to form and develop communication skills through
listening, speaking, reading and writing; open construction; does not specify
the details of the teaching content, but only specifies the requirements to be
met in terms of listening, speaking, reading and writing communication
skills for each class and suggests a number of topics and main topics
associated with the output standards. each level of study; ensuring that
students' learning activities are centered in the teaching process; ensure the

English teaching in different localities.
The program helps students have a new communication tool, forming and

listening, speaking, reading and writing. At the end of the general education
program, students have the ability to communicate at Level 3 of the 6-level
Foreign Language Competency Framework for Vietnam, creating a

Help students have a general understanding of some English-speaking
countries
The program helps students have an overview of the country, people and
culture of some English-speaking countries; have a good attitude and
affection towards the country, people, culture and language of English-
speaking countries.
In addition, the English General Education Program also contributes to the
formation and development of students with necessary qualities and
competencies for workers: awareness and responsibility for labor,
orientation and choice. careers in accordance with their abilities, interests,
and adaptability in the context of the new industrial revolution.
2. Knowledge on language and cultures:
Primary school goals
- Children can communicate simply in English through 4 skills of listening,
speaking, reading and writing. It emphasizes two basic but important skills:
listening and speaking.
- Basic knowledge of English including: phonetics, vocabulary, grammar.
And initially have understanding about the country, people and culture of
other countries in the world.
- Build a positive attitude towards learning English. Be proud, love and
always respect the culture and language of the nation.
- Form a habit, an effective way to learn English. Thereby creating a basis
for learning other foreign languages in the future.
3. Positive attitude
With an open, flexible and flexible curriculum framework, the new general
education program in English, in addition to meeting the needs and
conditions of teaching in different localities, also opens up opportunities and
challenges for students. program designers, subject teachers when designing
lessons. Teachers need to understand the psycho-physiological
characteristics of students at different levels, consider students as active
participants in the learning process, and create opportunities for students to
use the language. in meaningful contexts and situations, close to daily life
and participate in communication activities through listening, speaking,
reading and writing.
Students will learn how to use English as a tool not only to communicate,
but also to support learning, learning other subjects, or beyond for lifelong
learning. Creating a "positive attitude towards the subject and learning
English" in students is no longer a concern of any individual, but has
become an educational goal of all three levels. This is a modern approach
and catches up with the real situation in the new industrial revolution.
