2.0. INTRODUCTION

A 2005 American/British comedy-drama fantasy film called Nanny McPhee was based

on Christianna Brand's Nurse Matilda persona. Kirk Jones served as the director. United

International Pictures and Universal Pictures both released the movie in theatres on October

28, 2005 and January 27, 2006, respectively, in the UK and the US.

Cedric Brown, a widower undertaker from Victorian Britain, is the father of seven

rambunctious kids: Christianna "Chrissie," Tora, Eric, Lily, Sebastian, and newborn Agatha

"Aggie." Their father is clumsy but loves his kids; nevertheless, after the death of his wife, he

was unable to spend more time with them. He therefore employed a large number of nannies,

but due to their behaviour and the practical jokes they had been plotting together, they could

not stand to watch after his children. Nanny Mcphee once showed up in front of their home

2
during a severe storm. The horrifying woman, who introduces herself as Nanny McPhee, is

shown when Cedric opens the door. She makes a difference in the family's lives via discipline

and a little magic.

The seven siblings devised a number of strategies to make Nanny McPhee’s care of

Cedric's kids intolerable and to get the nanny out after she arrived at their home to do so. The

failure of the nanny to lose patience and leave the house did not deter the seven siblings easy.

The nanny, however, has the strength and the patience to conquer all of their practical jokes.

The kids have realized their mistake and are starting to show the care some respect.

3.0. TEAM DYNAMICS

3.1. TEAM TYPES

a. COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE

Communities of practice, where a single group will be united by an interest in and

skill in a single activity. A stated agenda for a given week may or may not be present in a

community of practice, and even if it is, it may not be strictly adhered to. In communities of

practice, however, individuals inevitably share their experiences and expertise in free-flowing,

inventive ways that encourage fresh approaches to issues.

3.2. REFERENCE OF SCENES

This happens throughout the movie due to the seven siblings, whose cooperation is

centered on schemes and plans to get rid of their nannies—apart from when Nanny McPhee

started to show up to resolve all the issues and look after the siblings.

4
3.3. THE CHALLENGES OF TEAM

SOCIAL LOAFING

From (27:36), the siblings are starting to have a main problem in their team to defeat

Nanny McPhee. They are facing social loafing. In this scene, Simon put less effort to against

Nanny McPhee by saying they have chicken pocks and are feeling sick. Hence, with Nanny

McPhee’s power, she made their sickness come through.

Also in the scene (46:00), the siblings failed to prevent Adelaide their aunt to pick up

a new girl for her matters. However, thanks to Nanny McPhee for helping the kids to switch

the daughter to her other nanny as a trade without the aunt realizing due to her magic power.

5
3.4. HOW TO INCREASE TEAM COHESIVENESS

In the movie, it seemed that the children are not good at team cohesiveness due to

their being needy to other parties such as their nanny. In order to increase team cohesiveness,

the group must interact with each other by giving opinions and agreement with the majority.

This could help them become more successful in getting rid of their nanny and their father's

girlfriend.

Furthermore, external competition and challenges also influence team cohesiveness.

In the movie, their nanny has challenged the team and lost many times. Although they keep

being defeated, they still have the motivation to fight. However, at the movie's end, they love

their nanny because they realize that they helped them in disciplining them.

Moreover, team size. Bigger team sizes usually will be difficult to handle due to many

opinions and disagreements which will lead to decision-making for the team. Luckily in the

movie, the team size is small which leads to success due to the small amount people in a

team, and easy to agree on goals and coordinate work teams.

In conclusion, there are more ways to increase team cohesiveness such as member

similarity, somewhat difficult entry, and team success.

6
4.0. TEAM DYNAMICS

4.1. TWO FACTORS THAT LEAD THE TEAM TO SUCCESS

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

Effective communication among the characters is one factor that contributes to the

team's success. Teamwork depends on effective communication, which is the process of

exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, and knowledge so that everyone on the team can

understand one other's messages. By maintaining the effectiveness of communication, the

team in the movie was able to achieve the goals they wanted to achieve. Improving

communication between teams can improve understanding and cooperation within their team

COLLABORATION AND COOPERATION

Another critical aspect of the team's success is their ability to collaborate and

cooperate with one another. The children gradually learn the value of teamwork and working

together allows them to accomplish much more. They begin to pool their resources, support

one another's ideas, and work towards a common goal which is to stop Mrs. Quickly from

marrying their father. This collaboration enables them to ultimately succeed as a team.

7
4.2. REFERENCE OF SCENES

Effective Communication (19:59/37:21). Nanny McPhee, played by Emma

Thompson, teaches the children the importance of listening to others and learning to say

please to the children. This helps the children to be well-behaved and finally make a great

team as siblings throughout the movie.

Collaboration and cooperation (1:02:33 - 1:06:00). In this scenario, the siblings work

together to stop their father from getting married to the wicked woman. They have plotted

numerous schemes and played practical jokes on her, and eventually the bad woman can no

longer take the attitude and practical jokes that have been played on her. They can accomplish

the objectives they have in mind if they work together.

8
4.3. JUSTIFY YOUR ANSWER BASED ON THE CHAPTER YOU HAVE LEARNED

Effective communication is a fundamental aspect of team dynamics in organizational

behavior. It enables teams to build trust, establish shared understanding, and facilitate

effective coordination. The improved communication skills of the children in "Nanny McPhee"

align with the principles of team dynamics, as it enhances their ability to collaborate, problem-

solve, and achieve their shared goals.

Collaboration and Cooperation are integral to team dynamics in organizational

behavior. When team members trust one another, they are more likely to share ideas, take

risks, and support each other's contributions. Collaboration allows teams to pool their diverse

skills and perspectives, leading to enhanced creativity, problem-solving, and overall team

performance. The collaboration and cooperation demonstrated by the children in "Nanny

McPhee" align with the principles of team dynamics by creating a positive team climate and

promoting effective teamwork.

9
5.0. WORK RELATED STRESS AND STRESS MANAGEMENT

5.1. IDENTIFY THE CAUSES OF STRESS EXIST IN THE MOVIE

Nanny McPhee’s psychological harassment is one of the movie's stressors.

Psychological harassment is a type of vexatious behavior that consists of repeated hostile and

unwanted words, behaviors, or acts that are unpleasant, hurtful, irritating, humiliating or

insulting. This has occurred because of the children's bad behaviors and pranks, which have

methodically pushed off lots of nannies. These children, who appear to be born around eight

years apart, are a rebellious tribe committed to scaring away nannies, and we observe several

of them leaving the house, one of them crying, "They've eaten the baby!" in the first scenes

(02:03). The children also causing chaos in the kitchen during a storm at night and refuse

going to bed. This occurred at the scenes (09:26) until they met Nanny McPhee at the same

night.

5.2. REFERENCE OF SCENES

From (02:03), the siblings began to get rid of the final nanny before Nanny McPhee by

prank of eating the baby. In these moments, kids place baby Agatha, often known as "Aggie,"

in the large pot of meals while eating drumsticks as if they were eating the baby. These

children are incredibly bright but naughty till Mr. Brown decided to employ a new nanny and

told them not to drive her away as they had done before.

10
Also in the scene (9:26), the children refuse to go to bed after discovering that Mr.

Brown was unable to get them a new nanny. They began to cause chaos in the kitchen by

tying one of their maids, Mrs. Blatherwick, a former military chef, to the dining table. They

even smash the glassware in the kitchen and scatter the meal ingredients around. Evangeline,

the sweet-natured scullery maid, is unable to put a stop to the children's horrible behaviour

and informs Mr. Brown, who is likewise unable to control them after his wife's death. Until

Nanny McPhee arrived with her little powers to put a stop to it. The children led by Simon, try

to play their tricks on her, but after failing, they eventually begin to respect her and seek her

advice.

11
5.3. BASED ON WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED, STAT WAYS IN MANAGING STRESS IN

SCENES (B)

In the movie, it appeared that Mr. Brown, the father of seven unruly children, had spent

little time with them and was unable to control them after his wife's death. To deal with stress,

he receives social support, such as having two maids, Evangeline and Mrs. Blatherwick, and

hiring Nanny McPhee to teach the children. She changes the life of the family with discipline

and a little magic. Nanny McPhee may reduce Mr. Brown's and the maids' stress by dealing

with misbehaving siblings by receiving social support. Over time, the children grow more

responsible, assisting their struggling father in resolving family issues.

12
6.0. CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this Nanny McPhee movie has a lot to teach us about the different types

of teams, how to succeed in completing anything as a team, how to deal with failure, how to

strengthen team cohesion, and how to handle stress. Based on the movie, the siblings play

a role as a team to get attention from their father and get rid of their nanny, they work together

to get rid of their nanny with a bad attitude and often pull pranks on the nanny. With their

cooperation, they often manage to get rid of their nanny.

Whatever its shape, a team that can work together to accomplish a goal will be

successful in overcoming any challenges or obstacles, no matter how big or small they may

be. Because of this, collaboration and communication within a team are particularly beneficial.

The type of stress you experience is another crucial life skill. This is due to the fact that

by understanding this kind of stress, we are better able to identify its root causes and devise

solutions to address them. With that, we can deal with stress without endangering ourselves

because it can have an adverse effect on our physical and emotional well-being. Nanny

Mcphee, for instance, experienced psychological abuse. He is aware that his stressed out due

of his hurtful and ungrateful siblings. He disciplined them sternly and patiently, and as a result,

he was able to instill in the kids a sense of respect and trust for Nanny McPhee.
