I. ABECEDARIO – The Alphabet.

The English alphabet consists of twenty-six letters; five vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and twenty-one
consonants (b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v , w, x, y, z).

One of the important pronunciation rules involves the ending "e" in a word. If the word ends in
"e" and another vowel precedes it, the "e" forces the other vowel in that syllable to pronounce
its name.
Examples:

RAT RATE → reit CON CONE → koun
HER HERE → hir CUT CUTE → kiut
