Physical Education Club Constitution
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to provide an outlet to Brockport Students and to unite students with
a mutual interest in Physical Education and activity.
Article I Title
The name of this organization shall be titled Physical Education Club.
Article II Purpose
The purpose of the Physical Education Club is three fold; to (a) promote professionalism
among its members, (b) provide opportunities for professional development among
members and (c) provide opportunities for physical activity and socialization around
physical activity among members. In addition, the physical education club shall prove
The College at Brockport State University of New York students with education and
information on various aspects of physical education and physical activity. The Physical
Education Club will organize events to increase knowledge of physical education and
physical activity concerns.
Article III Membership
Section I. Membership is open to all students who are in good standing of the
Brockport Student Government (i.e.: Who have satisfactorily paid or been
waived of the Brockport Student Government Activity Fee.)
Article IV Officers
The Physical Education Club shall have five officers elected from and by the
membership, each officer to be titled of President, Vice President, Treasurer,
Secretary, and Academic Council Representative. The positions are further explored
below.
Section I. President
Clause I. Preside over all The Physical Education Club meetings
Clause II. In conjunction with the Vice President, be in charge of
organizing professional activities such as presentations, speakers,
conferences, and other events related to the Physical Education Club .
Clause III. In the event of a tie, the President shall have the ultimate
say in the matter.
Clause IV. Produce, copy, and post meeting agenda.
Clause V. Put all information pertinent to membership on ANGEL.
Clause VI. Conduct all meetings.
Clause VII. Promote professional behavior among members.
Clause VIII. Delegate responsibilities for fundraisers, community
service, and professional activities.
Section II. Vice President
Clause I. The Vice President shall serve in the capacity of the
President, and or act as the President’s designee in the event that the
President is unable to fulfill his/her duties.
Clause II. In conjunction with the President, be in charge of
organizing professional activities such as presentations, speakers,
conferences, and other events related to the Physical Education Club.
Clause III. Shall inform members of upcoming activities and
programs.
Clause IV. Create and post all meeting signs at least 2 days prior to
meetings
Clause V. The Vice President shall have full and equal voting
privileges.
Clause VI. Oversee committees for fundraising, community service, and
professional activities
Clause VII. Assist other officers in apparel sale
Clause VIII. Promote professional behavior among members
Clause IX. Promote the ideals of scholarship and service among members
Section III. Treasurer
Clause I. The Treasurer shall balance and keep track of budget in the
special account as well as in the Brockport Student Government
funded account.
Clause II. In absence of the President and Vice President assume the
duties for the meeting.
Clause III. Assure the uses of the Brockport Student Government
budget are compliant with the Brockport Student Government
policies.
Clause IV. Responsible for all fund raising for the initiation and
development of the club.
Clause V. Keep a line item budget and give copy to faculty advisors
Clause VI. Secure and write out all purchase orders for BSG following
appropriate time lines
Clause VII. Participate in all fundraiser, community service, and
professional activities
Clause VIII. Promote professional behavior among members
Clause IX. Promote the ideals of scholarship and service among members
Section IV. Secretary
Clause I. The Secretary shall record, type and distribute the minutes
of all Physical Education meetings and rehearsals.
Clause II. The Secretary shall take attendance at all Physical
Education meetings.
Clause III. Participate in all fundraisers, community service, and
professional activities.
Clause IV. Promote professional behavior among members
Clause V. Promote ideals of scholarship and service among members
Section V. B.S.G Representative
Clause I. Attend all Academic Council Meetings.
Clause II. Report on all Academic Council meetings and activities to
the members of the Physical Education Club.
Clause III. Act as a representative for The Physical Education Club.
Clause IV. Assure a member can act as a temporary representative at
Academic Council meetings if the Physical Education Club B.S.G
Representative cannot attend a meeting.
Article V Election of Officers
Section I. Election of new officers shall take place at a general meeting and
is to occur within the last three meetings every spring semester of the
academic year with notification at least one week before nominations.
Section II. Nominations will take place one week before elections.
Clause I. Any Physical Education Club member may nominate a fellow
member to run for a position.
Clause II. The nominee holds the right to accept or decline the
nomination.
Section III. Only members in good standing shall have the rights to vote and
hold office. Members in good standing must satisfy the following
requirements:
Clause I. Members must be in good standing with the Brockport
Student Government as well as members in The Physical Education
Club.
Clause II. Members who wish to vote in an election must attend the
meetings for both nomination and election.
Section IV. The term of office for each elected official shall be from 12:00 pm
Commencement until 11:59 am of the following Commencement.
Section V. All newly elected officers’ contact information must be submitted
to Brockport Student Government no later than the last day of finals week
spring semester.
Section VI. Each candidate may speak for three minutes before the election
while the other candidates are not present.
Section VII. Majority vote will determine the outcome of each election and
each officer position.
Section VIII. No member will hold more than one office at a time.
Section IX. In the event of a vacancy of one or more elected positions, a
special election will be held to fulfill the vacancy. Special elections shall be
run in accordance with standard procedures outlined in the other sections in
this article.
Section X. In the event of a tie, the President shall decide the outcome.
Clause I. In the event of a tie resulting in the conflict of interest of the
President, the next officer in line of succession shall determine the
outcome.
Section XI. In the event of a Presidential absence the next officer in line of
succession shall determine the outcome.
Article VI Meetings
Section I. The Physical Education Club shall meet on a biweekly basis at a
time mutually agreeable to the majority of its current members, and is a
suitable time for all current officers.
Section II. At least one officer and two members shall call a meeting and
constitute quorum.
Section III. Minutes shall be recorded for all club meetings.
Clause I. In the event of the secretary’s absence, minutes shall be
recorded by the designated member or officer.
Article VII Impeachment of Officers
Section I. Any officer may be impeached for:
Clause I. Gross negligence of duty
Clause II. Extreme lack of participation
Cause III. Violation of the constitution, or legislation passed by The
Physical Education Club.
Clause IV. Conviction of a felony while in office or waiting to resume
office
Clause V. Malfeasance while in office
Clause VI. Violation of the constitution or legislation passed by The
Brockport Student Government
Section II. Impeachment must be initiated by at least three club members in
written summarization. The written summarization must be given to the
club Secretary at least 72 hours before the meeting. If the Secretary is the
officer in question in the written summarization, it should be given to the
President or any succession of officer present in the absence of the President.
Section III. The club will then vote as a whole to decide if the grievances
should be heard. A twothirds majority of members at the meeting must vote
in favor for the impeachment to proceed.
Section IV. A formal hearing to review the grievances must take place within
seven days. The accused person, as well as those initiating the proceedings,
must be given 72 hours notice before the hearing is to take place.
Section V. A twothirds majority of the members in attendance at the
meeting is needed for the accused to be removed from office as well as the
three initializing members, and the accused.
Section VI. All impeachment proceedings are subject to review by the
Brockport Student Court.
Article VIII Constitutional Amendments
Section I. Amendments to this constitution must be passed by twothirds
vote of all members present at any club meeting.
Section II. All amendments are further subject to the approval of the
Brockport Student Government Board of Directors.
Article IX Constitutional Overarching Agreement
Section I. This Constitution is subject to change and is superseded by the
Brockport Student Government Constitution and Bylaws.
Article X Use of BSG Student Activity Fee
Section I. No funds provided by the BSG Student Activity fee will be used outside
Physical Education Club’s activities and meetings, both of which must be conducted in
order to benefit The College at Brockport, SUNY’s students. The expenditures of Physical
Education Club’s shall be recorded by the Treasurer and approved by the membership.
Article XI Ratification
Section I. The constitution for the Physical Education Club was ratified by
membership on the date of 8/25/2014.
