Port Waste Solid Waste Management Introduction

Port-generated wastes are collected by

an accredited service provider or the
Local Government Unit (LGU).

Upon arriving at the port, vessel-

generated wastes are collected by an
accredited Shore Reception Facility (SRF)
service provider
Most of the wastes end
up in the sanitary landfill.

Some ports have communities inside

that generate wastes that are managed
and collected by the local government.

Conclusion
Conclusion

Plastic flow waste analysis in the select

ports is useful to determine the targets for
plastic leakage reduction.

The proposed interventions can hasten the

progress towards a more sustainable solid
and plastic waste management in the
Philippines – especially in its ports.
