Mr. First Last High School Principal Address City, State Zip
Dear Mr. Last:
I am applying for a position teaching secondary English, which I found listed on Indeed.com. Northwest Christian High School seems to align with my own belief system, and I’d love to be part of Christian education.
After completing my undergraduate degree in 2013, I served as a missionary teacher for the 2015 fall semester in Tanzania. Between graduation and teaching in Tanzania, I worked as the assistant manager of a pharmacy and gift shop, where I learned valuable lessons in effectively interacting with people. In Tanzania, I taught ESL and an introductory Bible course to sixteen students. From there, I gained further teaching experience as a substitute teacher at Panther Creek ISD and Coleman ISD for the spring 2016 semester while waitressing part time at a local pizzeria. I taught English III and speech at Coleman ISD, where I fell in love with high school education. Due to a change in my husband’s career, I accepted an English III teaching position at Denver City ISD for the 2017-2018 school year.
My parents, along with my previous students, inspire me to teach. My parents have taught for many years; I have witnessed lives changed as a direct result of their care and attention that goes above and beyond the duties of teaching math and English. My students in Tanzania taught me that language does not have to be a barrier. Furthermore, my students at Coleman ISD and Denver City ISD taught me to care deeply, be flexible, and to have fun in the classroom. A teachable spirit begins with me, which enables me to transfer the love of learning to my students.
I am passionate about serving Jesus and serving others. I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how my skills and experience can benefit Northwest Christian High School’s students. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
