Plaza Libertad is the historic venue of the surrender of the Philippines Islands by Governor
General de los Rios to Filipino revolutionary troops led by General Martin Delgado. San Jose
Church is the center of religious devotion of Iloilo's Dinagyang Festival.
9:10 AM - 9:40 AM Walk towards the rear of Iloilo City Hall and tour Museum of No Entrance Fee
Philippine Economic History
The Museum is housed in what used to be a commercial building constructed in the early
1900s by the Ynchausti y Compania, which later became Elizalde and Company.

Phillippine Maritime History
The Museum of Philippine Maritime History is housed on the ground floor of the Iloilo
Customs House, a building that played a role in Maritime trading at the Port of Iloilo.

The Old Prison of Iloilo was built in 1911 and operated until 2006. It opened in 2018 as the
regional branch of the National Museum. Explore the four galleries showcasing the culture
of Western Visayas.

The Jaro Plaza features the Jaro Belfry and the monuments of Graciano Lopez Jaena and
heroine Patrocino Gamboa. The Jaro Belfry was recently restored with newly added carillon
bells and statues of four virtues. The bells chime every 30 minutes.
1:00 PM - 1:15 PM Visit Jaro Cathedral and light a candle
The church is known for the miraculous image of Our Lady of Candles which was
canonically crowned by St. John Paul II in 1981. Sen. Grace Poe is a foundling that was left in
this church as an infant.

The Molo Plaza, together with Molo Church, feature female statues, a tribute to the feminist
movement led by Ilonggas Pura Villanueva Kalaw and Sofia Reyes de Veyra. Across Molo
Church is the Molo Mansion, the ancestral house of the Yusay-Consing Family.

The Avanceña Ancestral house has collections of various period pieces from Pre-Spanish,

landscaped area along Iloilo Esplanade 3 where flowers bloom all-year long.
