E-COMMERCE

E-commerce, or electronic commerce, is a system of buying and selling products

or services that is carried out exclusively through the Internet. It refers to
transactions between buyers and sellers through an online platform that manages
collections and payments completely electronically.

The basic requirement of e-commerce is a website. Marketing, advertising, selling

and conducting transactions are done with the help of the Internet. Any monetary
transaction, which is carried out with the help of electronic means, is e-commerce.
Here I explain what are the types of e-commerce:

B2B (Business to Business): is the process where the purchase and sale of goods
and services is carried out between companies.

B2C (Business to Client): is the process by which the company sells the goods to
the client.

C2C (Client to Client): It is the commercial transaction from client to client.

C2B (Client to Business): it is the commercial transaction between the client and
the business.

E-BUSINESS

Electronic business or e-Business is a generic concept that refers to all forms of

ICT use that assist commercial sales processes in all their phases or improve their
efficiency.

Information, communication and transactions constitute the fundamental elements

of electronic business. Business partners carry out business processes across
digital networks, whether private or public, using ICT to improve support and
increase efficiency.

E-business is not limited to the buying and selling of goods only, but includes other
activities that are also part of business, such as providing services to customers,
communicating with employees, customers or business partners (for example,
when they contact the company when they have a problem regarding the services).
There are two types of e-business, which are:

1. Pure-Play: the business that only has an electronic existence.

2. Brick and Click: The business model, in which the business exists both online
and in electronic and offline modes.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN E-COMMERCE AND E-BUSINESS

These are the key points to differentiate e-commerce and e-business:

1. The purchase and sale of goods and services through the Internet is known as
e-commerce. Unlike e-business, which is an electronic business presence,
whereby all business activities are carried out through the Internet.

2. E-commerce is an important component of e-business.

3. E-commerce includes transactions related to money, but e-business, in addition

to including monetary activities, includes activities that have to do with the
management of everything that has to do with customers, suppliers, etc.

4. E-commerce has an extroverted approach that covers customers, suppliers,

distributors, etc. On the other hand, e-business has an ambitious approach that
covers both internal and external processes.

5. E-commerce requires a website that can represent the company. In contrast, e-

business requires a website, customer relationship management, and enterprise
resource planning to run the business over the Internet.

6. E-commerce uses the internet to connect with the rest of the world. Unlike e-
business, the Internet, intranet, and extranet are used to connect with all parties.
. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF E-COMMERCE AND E-BUSINESS

The main advantages of electronic commerce compared to a traditional business

are:

 Access to a global market, so that you can expand the target of your online
store and get more customers.
 Great potential to scale the business and expand the range of products and
services without the need for a large investment.
 Reducing the costs and expenses involved in managing an online store,
both in terms of infrastructure and personnel, is another of the main
characteristics of electronic commerce.

However, undertaking in the world of electronic commerce also has a series of

disadvantages or risks:

 There is great competition, especially from the great giants of online

commerce and from well-known international brands that open their own
online stores.
 Security issues, usually caused by cyber-attacks, that expose customer data
and affect trust in the online store.
 The profitability threshold takes time to arrive, generally you have to make a
significant investment in marketing at the beginning so that the e-commerce
obtains visibility.
When an organization undertakes an E-Business strategy or modality, it acquires
the following direct benefits, which I will list below:

 Market increase.
 Extension of hours.
 Price reduction.
 Capital and minimum inventory.
 Agile and automated order process.
 Lower service and care costs.
 Marketing evaluation.
 Ability to reach specialized market.
 Cost reduction in logistics.
 Speed and security in payments.
 Customer registration.
 Greater and more direct communication with the client.

Disadvantages

 They don't have much credibility.

 They are often fraudulent.
 It makes people have less and less personal contact with their environment.
 It increases the unemployment rate more, since it does not create many
sources of it.
 The conservative milieu does not accept it very easily.
