Calculation of units generated per day with
the help of load curve

Objective:
Analyze load curve with respect to time using MATLAB
Apparatus:
 Computer
 MATLAB
 Printer

Theory:
In this experiment load curve is obtained by using MATLAB software instead of
physical work diagram. This experiment will be completed without any cost and related
values can observed in short period of time.

Load Curve:
Load curve shown in fig below shows the variations of load at power plant with respect to
time. Load on power station is never constant and changes time to time. Load curves give the
number of units generated in the day. Highest point on the daily load curve shows the
maximum demand on the power station on that day.

Figure 1: Load Curve with respect to time

Procedure:
 Click on MATLAB icon to run program and enter the file name.
 Enter the amount of data in matric format.
 Select initial and final time.
 Take time difference between two adjustments
 Calculate Maximum demand
 Calculate Energy in MWH
 Find average load and load factor.
 Obtain maximum demand and average power.
 Next set different commends to obtain result.
 At the end take graph of Load versus time
