Rules of Procedure
COMMITTEE ETIQUETTE
• No IP member should be a distraction for the delegates and in no way
disrupt the flow of the session.
• If you wish to approach a delegate or the executive board, do so through
chits.
• Flash photography is generally prohibited. An exception would only be
made in the case of a dark room.
• All IP members are expected to follow moral etiquette and respect the
boundaries of the participants.
• In case the committee setup is hampering your work, you can observe the
committee, take notes, and move back to the International Press room.
FORMAL JOURNALISM
• Op-ed (350-450 words) - Opinion on the agenda.
• Beat (300-350 words) -

using poems, letters, case study.
• News report (200 words) – short, concise to the point description of
committee proceedings
CREATIVE JOURNALISM
• Roasts (100 words)– controversy between two or more delegates or
EB members
• Gossip column -
We all know that the freeze date for GA is 25th April 2003. I think the
delegate of Poland time travelled to 2007 while everyone else was
debating in 2003. The delegate of Poland is way ahead of all of us. Or
more ignorant. Whatever you think.
JOURNALISTIC PROCEDURE
• Devices – carry your laptop, chargers, pen drive and a note pad for
taking notes.
• Research – read the background guides given to delegates. For
additional information refer to news agencies such as Reuters and
Aljazeera.
• Plagiarism of any form will not be tolerated.
• Using non-offensive, diplomatic language is a must.
• Chits may be sent to delegates and Executive Board members. Keep in
mind that some participants do not respond.
• Always inform your International Press Heads of your whereabouts.
