Which one is the best fertilization technique that helps to reduce N loss from the flooded soil
system? Justify your answer by comparing it with the other techniques. Include N reactions /
transformation involved to elaborate your choice of technique.

1. For me , I think the best method that we can use to reduce N loss in picture above is
we use the second method which is by using the deep placed method, the reason is
first of all, when we use the surface applied fertilizer method, the urea fertilizer will
make the fertilizer loss because of the water flow. So the water flow will bring the
urea fertilizer to the other place.
2. The other reason why I use the deep placed method is because from my research
deep placed method can reduce N loss and increase crop productivity. This is
because, when urea we placed it in deep placed in continuously flooded rice soils,
the chances to loss the N as floodwater ammonium volatilization and nitrous oxide
emissions are negligible. With the reduction of these losses, urea deep placed
increase.
3. Next reason is, from my research, the deep placed method remain in the root zone
as NH4N, which is ensuring continuous supply to plant throughout the growing
season which is depend on soil types.
4. Nest reason, from research , the urea deep placement method is one of the best way
to apply fertilizer and it has been validate by the International Fertilizer Development
Centre ( IFDC ) and more than a dozen researcher organizations in Asia and Africa.
With this method, they said that rice farmers will consistently achieve yield gains of
15% to 20% while using one third less fertilizer. The vegetables farmers realize that
attractive yield increase with this method compared to the other method
5. The next reason is, the surface application process contributes to loses from
ammonia volatilization and runoff leading to the extremely low which 35% efficiency
factor in crop uptake of applied nitrogen.
6. The next reason is surface applied method from the environmental perspective, we
can see that may of the N compound that are released by these process which is it
will disrupt natural process or ecosystem, water quality and also lead to global
warming.
7. The deep placed method is actually a low cost technology that is extremely well
suited for small scale rice production or smallholder.
8. The next reason I choose deep placement method is because as we know many
minerals is come from deep soil, so when we placed it at deep placed the other
minerals from the soil will come to the root and maybe the N mineral also can be
come to the roots.
9. The next reason is when we use the deep placement method this way is the fastest
way that fertilizer to go to the root than using surface fertilization method because the
deep placement method more direct to the root.
10. Last reason is when using the deep placement method , it have been prove that
farmers will get more yield that using the surface method especially for the
smallholders.
