GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
i. This sample paper is divided into five sections-Section A, B, C, D and E.
ii. There are 31 questions in the sample paper. All questions are compulsory.
iii. Section-A: Question no. 1 to13 are objective type questions of 1 mark each.
iv. Section-B: Question no. 14 to21 are short answer type questions, carrying 3 marks each.
Answer to each question should not exceed 40 words.
v. Section-C: Question no. 22 to 27 are long answer type questions, carrying 5 marks each.
Answer to each question should not exceed 120 words.
vi. Section-D: Question no. 28 and 29 are Case Based questions.
vii. Section-E: Question no. 30 and 31 are map based, carrying 1 mark for History and 3
marks for Geography.
viii. There is no overall choice in the sample paper. However, an internal choice has been
provided in a few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have to be attempted.
ix. In addition to this, separate instructions are given with each section and question, wherever
necessary.

SECTION-D
28. Read the passage and answer the questions that follow: (1x4=4)

The various production activities in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors produce a very
large number of goods and services. Also, the three sectors have a large number of people
working in them to produce these goods and services. The next step, therefore, is to see how
much goods and services are produced and how many people work in each sector

With so many thousands of goods and services produced, you might think this is an impossible
task! Not only would the task be enormous, you might also wonder how we can add up cars and
computers and nails and furniture. It won’t make sense!!!

To get around this problem, economists suggest that the values of goods and services should be
used rather than adding up the actual numbers. For example, if 10,000 kgs of wheat is sold at Rs
20 per kg, the value of wheat will be Rs 2,00,000. The value of 5000 coconuts at Rs 15 per
coconut will be Rs 75,000. Similarly, the value of goods and services in the three sectors are
calculated, and then added up.

i)Differentiate between final and intermediate goods with examples. (1)

ii) How is the GDP of India calculated? (1)

iii)Which organisation is responsible for the calculation of GDP in the country? (1)

iv)How do we classify the economic activities based on the nature of employment? Which
amongst these two sectors is preferable? (1)
