Function 2.1 Description of Funetion 2.1.1 Main Steam ‘The Cl main steam system connects the NI terminal points to the turbine stop valves, the dump steam lines fo the condensers, the live steam section of the Moisture Separator and Reheater (MSR), and auxiliary steam system, 2.1.2 Turbine Bypass The turbine bypass system to the condensers performs the following functions: Function 1: The system should fulfill the start-up requirements at any condition (start-up at cold, and hot states) to improve the start-up conditions and to reduce the steam exhausted to the atmosphere. Especially it is essential for hot start-up of the unit, to increase the temperature of the main steam and shorten the start-up time. Function 2: Maintain the load reduction rate of the NSSS less than 10% step change or $% ramp change per minute to avoid reactor emergency shutdown following a turbine step load reduction to more than 10%or load rejection. Function 3: Maintain the primary coolant temperature at the no-load conditions, during hot shutdown of reactor. Function 4: Allow primary coolant controlled cooldown from hot shutdown conditions until startup of the reactor residual heat removal system. Function 5: Avoid actuation of the steam generators safety valves following turbine trip or reactor trip. Function 6: Under 220kV side breaker circuit of main transformer trip, with the help of steam dump system, power plant can operate under housepower condition. 2.2 Safety Funetion The CI Main Steam and Turbine Bypass Systems are not classed as being associated with any nuclear safety function, 2.3 Scope of System The System includes all piping, valves, instruments, control and other components required to perform the functions described in paragraph 2.1 The specific system boundaries and interfaces are defined on flow diagrams H000902C-1101-01.The interface between the ECEPDI and SNERDI is one meter outside of the turbine building. The equipment boundaries are the high and low ECEPDI 30-11000902C-J101 ‘Main Steam and Turbine Bypass System manual Rev A E22 pressure turbines, and 2nd stage reheaters and condensers. The interfacing systems are: Auxiliary steam system and the steam connections of 2nd stage reheaters. ‘The interface between the EDEPDI and turbine manufacturer is at the inlet of the turbine stop valves. 3. General Design 3.1 System Design Criteria The main steam pipework is designed to distribute, under maximum working conditions, 2015th of steam at 5.34MPa(a), 268.1°C to the turbine and MSR. At periods of turbine bypass operation 1410.5t/h is distributed to the dump steam pressure reducing valves, The guaranteed maximum working condition of the turbine is 325MW output with circulating inlet water temperature 21°C. The pipe bores are chosen in order that the maximum steam velocities do not exceed 5Om/s.Specific equipment manufacturer’s data is provided in Table MO1-1 and MO1-2 in paragraph 4.2 The systems design is in accordance with the Technical code for designing fossil fuel power plants (DL 5000-2000) and Code for design of thermal power plant steam/water piping (DL/T 5054-1996). 3.1.1 Operating Requirements This system provides steam in the quantity, quality, pressure and temperature as required at various operating loads from start-up to the maximum guaranteed output, ‘The following heat balances are attached in paragraph 10. Unit Heat Balance—capability condition Unit Heat Balance—max guaranteed rating condition Operations in the Start-up and Shutdown modes are described in Paragraph 5.0 3.1.2 Design Requirements The design basis for the MS System is provided in the Unit Heat Balance with capability of functioning at Maximum guaranteed output. ‘The design data for the turbine bypass system valves is given in Table MO1-2. ‘The design data for the turbine is given in Table MO1-1. From this common steam manifold, two 660.4mm O.D. lines connect to the turbine main stop valves ‘The MSVs are connected directly to the turbine control valve, the primary function of the MSVs is to quickly shut off the main steam flow to the turbine under emergency, as well as normal, shutdown conditions. Each MSV is provided with a bypass valve which is used to warm up the turbine during cold start-up and balance the pressure on both sides of the stop valve disc before opening. Each turbine stop valve is provided with a strainer for protection against entrance of crud. The control valve admits steam to the turbine regulate the steam flow to match load requirements. 4.1.1.2 Drains Later 4.1.2 Turbine Bypass 4.1.2.1 Piping The turbine bypass is designed for 2 dumping steam flow of 70% of the Max. MS. flow, allowing turbine for house load operation from full load with a small amount of steam release to the atmosphere. The turbine bypass system is composed of four steam lines (each 273mm O.D.) branched off from the steam header (660.4mmO.D.), which is connected by one line ECEPDI 30-H000902C-J101 Main Steam and Turbine Bypass System manual Revd E24 (559mm ©.D.) to the main steam manifold (660.4mmO.D.), four manual operated isolation valves and four hydraulically operated pressure reducing valves, discharging (630mm O.D.) into the condenser flash boxes. The four manually operated isolation valves are manually operated in the field, it should be fully opened during normal operating. ‘The reducing valves are arranged in parallel so thet, when combined, the required bypass flow is produced. This arrangement minimizes steam bypassed to the condenser if a valve opens accidentally or sticks open, so preventing reactor uncontrolled cooldown. The steam is discharged into four desuperheating flash boxes, integral with the condensers. Desuperheating water is taken at the condensate booster pump discharge ‘manifold and supplied through four spray valves. 4.1.2.2 Drains Later 4.2 Data Sheet Table MOI-1 Turbine Main Technical Spet Type Indoor, tandem compound, intermediate moisture ications removal and reheat, saturated steam, condensing reaction turbine Model No. Number of Casing 3 Number of flow 4 Output Max. guaranteed 325MW (Cooling water temperature 21°C) Working speed 3000r/min Direction of rotation Clockwise when viewed from turbine towards generator Steam condition at main stop valve inlet: Pressure 5.34MPa Temperature 268.1°C ECEPDI 30-H000902C-1101 Main Steam and Turbine Bypass System manual Revd EDS Dryness 0.995 Rated flow 1905.378vh Steam condition at reheat stop valve inlet: Pressure 0.732MPa Temperature 253.5°C Design basis cooling water 20°C temperature Max cooling water temperature 31°C Exhaust pressure at rated output —0.00574MPa Final feed water temperature 220°C Heat rate (guaranteed) 10800kI/kW.h Electro hydraulic control system type DEH mode Last blade height 869mm Table MO1-2 Turbine Bypass System Data Sheet Total steam flow at rated pressure 1410.5t/h Rated pressure upstream of valves Later Number of pressure reducing valves 4 sets Type hydraulically-operated ‘Max. operation time: Quick opening 3s Quick closing 5s Modulated opening or closing 20s 43 Layout Later 5. Each drain point has a large bore drain pot equipped with level switches which interlock with the solenoid to control the pneumatic operated drain valve. Also, the remote controls in the main control room are provided for the operator to control the solenoid of the drain valve. The level switches mounted on the drain pot shall also initiate alarms in the main control room on high water level in the drain pot, 6.1.2 Indication and control-analogue The instruments such as thermocouples, RTD’s, flow orifices and transmitters are provided in this system which provide signals to the main control room for indication and to the plant computer for display and to the annunciator for alarm. The detail arrangement will be supplied in detail design. Some of the transmitters are used for control system. For example, the pressure transmitters in the main steam manifold provide signals to the NI steam dump control system; the main steam pressure transmitters after turbine control valve provide signals to the DEH, the control Loop and the primary Loop. The detail indication will be also supplied in detail design. In the MSR system, the motor operated valves and pneumatic operated valves are equipped which controlled by the RTC controller. The hydraulic control intercept valves before the admission of the LP turbine are controlled by the DEH controller. The power operated turbine bypass valves are controlled by the NI steam dump control system and the positions switches provide signals to the plant computer. 6.2 Logic Diagram Later ECEPDI 30-1000902C-s101 Main Steam and Turbine Bypass System manual Rev. A E6-3 6.6 Operating Principles 6.6.1 Start-up operation for Cl part When the main steam is supplied from NSSS to Cl main steam system for warming up the pipework, the drain pots shall remove condensate continuously from the manifold and the pipeline through the pneumatic operated valves in the drainage After completion of warm up and initial loading of the system, the drain valves will be controlled automatically. The drain valves remain closed during normal operation but in the event of excess condensate in the drain pots, the level switch will drive open the appropriate valve and activate the drain pot high level alarm. The drain valve will be closed on the low water level in the drain pot or 2~5 seconds time delay after open. 6.6.2 Shutdown Operation for CI Part ‘The main steam system remains in operation until all steam supply demands on the system have ceased due to CI unit shutdown. 6.6.3 Operation in Case of Incident and/or Accident Following a turbine trip or rapid major load reduction, the turbine steam supply is diverted to the condensers by the turbine bypass valves under steam dump control system, In the event of “condensers not available” under steam dump conditions, the turbine bypass valves are closed automatically, and the steam produced by the steam generator is vented to atmosphere through the steam generator atmospheric discharge valves or safety valves. When the turbine trip, the steam line drain valves will be opened. 6.7 Power Supply Failure Analysis 6.7.1 Lack of control air Lack of air supply will open the pneumatic operated valves in the drain line of the drain pots. Failure of air supply will close the pneumatic operated valves of the MSR admission. 6.7.2 Lack of 220V AC control power Failure of the 220V AC supply causes loss of all remote indication. Failure of the 220V AC supply causes loss of power to the solenoid of the drain ECEPDI 30-H000902C-5101 Main Steam and Turbine Bypass System manual Rev.A__E6-4 valves which vent the air supply of the pneumatic operated drain valves to lead them open. 6.7.3 Lack of 380V AC power supply This supplies the power for opening and closing the motorized valves. On loss of this supply, the valves will not be operated from the main control room, locally or automatically. However they can still be operated by valve handwheel. These piping systems are arranged to connect the steam generator to the turbine-generator in the most practical and economic manner possible. The necessary routing and support of large, high pressure, piping does not always result in configurations that permit easy access. Therefore, platforms and removable hatches are provided for access for inspection, testing and maintenance of valves and instrumentati n 82. Preventive Maintenance Preventive maintenance of the Main steam and turbine bypass Steam Piping Systems should include regular inspections of all pipelines, valves, instrumentation, pipe hangers and steam line drain provisions. The main steam and turbine bypass system pressure reducing valves and controls should be especially checked and observed for proper operation, including shutoff. These regular inspections should be made during operation and shutdown periods, 83 Corrective Maintenance Corrective maintenance is required when equipment has to be removed from service for repairs during non-scheduled outages. Therefore, special supervision and attention to detail of all inspections, tests and maintenance should be exercised to prevent or minimize unplanned maintenance outages. 8.4 “On-Line” Maintenance NA. 8.5. “Off-Line” Maintenance Off-line maintenance refers to repairs and adjustments that can be performed only during plant shutdown, It covers all maintenance that is not part of the On-line maintenance. 8.6 Spare Parts ECEPDI 30-H000902C-1101 ‘Main Steam and Turbine Bypass System manual Rew A E72 Adequate spare parts or replacement components should be stocked such that necessary repairs may be efficiently made during planned outages.
