    If a firmware update fails on an RD-5R radio, run the vcredist_x86_2008 file to update the database first. Then restart the computer, enter upgrade mode on the radio by pressing side keys 1 and 2 during power on, use the Update.exe software to select and download the firmware file to complete the upgrade, and reboot the radio after unplugging the cable.

    If the firmware update fails on your RD-5R, please find the vcredist_x86_2008 file in

    the Firmware software V3.1.6--update software document and run it first. It is a


    database that can help you solve the error.

    After the database is iupdated, please restart your computer and follow the
    instruction below:
    1. Turn off the radio and then plug in the programming cable.

    2. Hard press the side key 1 and the side key 2 for one second and then turn on the
    radio (still pressing the keys). The radio will be in upgrade mode when the
    indicator light is on.

    3.Open the upgrade software "Update.exe"

    4. Click "Browse" to select the file to be upgraded, for example: RD-5R_V2.1.0.sgl,


    5. Click "Download" to complete the upgrade.

    6. Unplug programming cable, turn off radio or reboot
