Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14, when

love takes center stage and romantic scenes take place in all corners
of the planet.

Lovers give gifts to their partners, propose to the loved one and social
networks are flooded with phrases of love and also memes about
Valentine's Day, some of them very imaginative and funny.

In the Rome of the third century, Emperor Claudius

II decided to prohibit marriages of young people,
considering that singles without family were better
soldiers since they did not have sentimental ties or
partner ties. Nor should we ignore the fact that at
this time Christianity was banned in Rome.
A priest named Valentine considered that this was a
mistake and decided to skip the order and secretly
marry all the young lovers who wanted to. Upon
learning of this act of rebellion, the emperor
sentenced the priest Valentine to death on February
14, 270.

In colombia, on the other hand, the celebration of

love and friendship takes place at another time of
the year. We Colombians have adopted the third
Saturday of september as the best time to show our
partners and close friends all the love and
appreciation they inspire us. This day is not know as
valentine’s day, but as love and friendship day.

Some of the gifts are postcards, chocolates, roses,

stuffed animals or perfums, among others. It is a
tradition that some lovers dress in red.
