Dear New Graduate Nurse Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my sincere interest in the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program at UC
San Diego Health. With my upcoming graduation this fall with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
from the University of Arizona, combined with my clinical experience where I had the privilege
to work with diverse patient populations in various clinical settings and passion for the PCU, I
believe these experiences not only strengthened my skills but also encouraged me to develop
enhanced leadership qualities. Additionally, my nursing program has provided me with
education on integrative holistic health, making it one of the only programs in the country to
have this unique focus. These experiences and education have prepared me to contribute to the
outstanding care provided by your hospital.

While initially being set on Pediatrics, my preceptorship in the PCU shifted my perspective. The
fast paced and robust environment fascinated me, and I discovered a new passion for providing
care to patients with complex medical conditions. During my time in the PCU, I independently
cared for three patients, improving my ability to multitask while maintaining safe patient care. I
was also given the opportunity to expand my leadership skills, by collaborating with other
nurses, prioritizing tasks and engaging in patient education.

Beyond my preceptorship and clinical experience, I shadowed a nurse on the telemetry floor
where I had the privilege of being introduced to the dynamic environment, observing patient
care, familiarizing myself with the complex medical conditions and assisting with the basics of
patient care and therapeutic communication. During the COVID pandemic I also had the
opportunity to work at the University of Arizona vaccination POD, where I educated individuals
on the importance of immunizations and ensured patient well-being post-vaccination.

I believe my time in the PCU combined with my clinical experience and leadership abilities,
make me an outstanding candidate for this program. I am eager to contribute my skills and
passion to your team and provide safe, quality care. Thank you for considering my application. I
