Sports occupy a vital role in our

lives. It keeps us fit, and healthy and

makes us active. The secret to having a

healthy and positive lifestyle is to have a

positive mind and body. Sports is one such activity

that helps us in maintaining a proper physique and a

positive mentality.

In schools, sports are one way to show the

skills and talents of the learners and develop the

spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among individuals. Another purpose

of this activity is to enable learners to realize their strengths and weaknesses

and be able to improve in each area. The said activity will also help learners de-

rive from doing obnoxious things that might hinder them from achieving a

bright future. But due to the pandemic, sports has to stop.

The camera lit and the action started with the parade of teams at 7:30

am on February 25. It was followed by the opening program facilitated by the

teachers. Mrs. Nancy B. Apolinar, Master Teacher I

of Saclag Settlement Farm School led the prayer

while Mrs. Gemma M. Valdes, Master Teacher II

of San Teodoro Central School (the host school)

conducted the National Anthem and the hymns ( Ori-

ental Mindoro and San Teodoro Hymn).

Athletes and coaches were welcomed by

Mrs. Agnes A. Ribon, Principal II of the

host school. Mrs. Nelia M. Castillo, the Publis Schools

District Supervisor gave her inspiring message to

enlighten the sports spirit of the athletes. Everyone

cheered as the escorts and muses raised their ban-

ners. Mr. Jay B. Bae, Principal II, and the District

Sports Officer presented the different delega-

tions. Deafening yells roared as the different teams cheered for their ath-

letes. Princess Tania M. Sara led the oath of amateurism while selected ath-

letes from every team lit the urn of unity and friendship. The real action

started when Mrs. Castillo declared the official start of the district meet.

Day 1 was the elimination round for all the events. A short meeting was held as

orientation for the officials. the 100m dash is the symbolic start of the ath-

letics event. Officials and coaches facilitated the 100m

dash, 200m, and 400m run eliminations for boys and

girls that lasted up to noon. The long jump was

the first to conduct at 1 pm. Athletes from the

different teams gave their longest stride as they

fought for dominance in the contest. The

triple jump followed as well as the high

jump for boys and girls. At the end of day

1 of the school meet, Blue Jays' athletes soared high

and ensured a spot in the unit meet. High jump girls

on the other hand were not able to finish and contin-

ued the other day. District meet has truly a huge

comeback for those who have sports nostalgia.

Day 2 started at 7:30 am with high jump girls. Athletes gathered at the

game area with enthusiasm and eagerness to secure their post in the unit

meet. The next game was javelin throw boys and girls category and discuss

then played. The contest ended at 3:30 pm. Tallying and recording followed. A

short conversation between officials undergone regarding the selection of

athletes that will compete in the unit meet. An-
