Despite the different fronts on which we fight, the impact of disinformation remains an
ever-present threat. The problem of combating disinformation has become increasingly
apparent, as individuals and groups exploit it for personal gain or heinous purposes.
Unfortunately, the Philippines has experienced a surge in disinformation, fueled by
technological advancements and improved communication channels that were meant for
improvements and conveniences. These permeated current politics, public figures, and the
very concept of truth itself, as falsehoods are deliberately crafted to manipulate and influence
people's beliefs, distorting their perception of reality. This issue becomes a root cause of
various evils people branch out to be deceitful and continuously manipulate reality for their
own accord. This allows the suppression of truth, weaponization of social media, and
historical distortion to hover reality, leading us to believe that the Philippines is in a great
condition when in fact we are not.

ironic that Filipinos, ranking
in the top six among the
world's leading consumers of
Facebook, are largely lacking
in media literacy expertise
and fact-checking skills,
which is highly concerning.

because of this. Overall,
historical distortion has
become an avenue for
corruption in the government
and the brainwashing of
civilians.

Kongklusyon/ Lagom (Conclusion / Summary)

Our history is a trace to retract, and recollect to find reality, however, what if these steps
change? Unfortunately, we are witnessing it unfold with undeniable evidence. The
disinformation in the country has been so flagrant people have seen lies, yet chose to believe
it due to its dominance over the truth. This deceit coupled with the falsification will become a
cycle if people are media illiterate, lack cross-checking, polarizing details, and weaponize
social media for ulterior motives. We are the users of media, consumers of information, and
writers of our history. Disconnecting from the truth by using media without knowledge,
consuming disinformation, and supporting the negative revision approach of history must be

put to an end. The first crucial step is to educate ourselves on the importance of history, and
the truth that comes with it. Consequently, we must foster collaboration and support for
truth and knowledge, thereby disrupting this harmful cycle.

Living in truth and agony must always prevail since being in bliss with lies is not living at all.
