General Instructions for preparing the report of Scantling Calculations

Please submit your report following the instructions below:

(a) Prepare the report in Excel and then submit it in Microsoft Teams writing
the file name as Group No. 01 (Passenger vessel, GL 2019).xls

(b) Write the title of your report first as Scantling Calculation of a Container
Vessel using ABS 2021 at the front page of report

(c) Group No., Student's name and Roll No. at the middle of the front page

(d) Name of the department and that of university and the year at the bottom

(e) Please start your calculation following the title of the reports and the
principal particulars of the vessel and its basic parameters.

Note (SOLAS 2003):


For access through vertical openings, or manholes, in swash bulkheads, floors, girders and web
frames providing passage through the length and breadth of the space, the minimum opening shall be
not less than 600 mm x 800 mm at a height of not more than 600 mm from the bottom shell plating
unless gratings or other footholds are provided
