4. Objective/s Objective/s
 To acquaint frontline employees in the use of computer in

 To build capability of LGU personnel to operate and maintain
application in a computer systems;
 Improved public service

5. Rationale LGU computerization is not a recent development. It goes back to the e-

Commerce Act that directs all agencies of government, including LGUs to
use electronic means in government transactions. Among the goals of this
Act is to integrate ICT into LGU operations, in order to deliver more efficient
effective services to citizens, while at the same time generating higher
revenues for the LGUs themselves.

The latest most pressing thrust to encourage LGU computerization is to

make each locality and the whole Philippines in general to be a more
attractive and competitive business destination.

With computerization, the LGU can reduce steps in transacting with the
government and cut processing time of official documents.
The LGU can also tap the power of automation to meet other requirements
of DILG and other agencies. One of these requirements is the preparation of
thematic maps in support to development plans. The preparation of maps is
greatly facilitated by GIS that allows the LGU to assess its strengths and
liabilities and devise programs and projects to address disadvantages and
draw greater benefits on existing advantages.

6. Project Description The training will focus on the application of Microsoft office.
The session is held twice a week (Saturdays & Sundays) for five (5)
consecutive weeks at six (6) hours per session under the tutorial of a
computer expert hired for the purpose. The LGU will provide the venue for
the training, the computer equipment to use, and the funding requirement
necessary in the conduct of the training.
