STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Introduction
I, Fiona Cicil introduce myself as an applicant for Masters at Northumbria
University. Here, I have attempted to put a little insight into my academics and
why I would want to specialize in MSc in Business with Business Analytics with
Advanced Practice.
United Kingdom is a nation which represent innovation and management and is
one of the most highly developed and efficient industrial nations. As I had my
education from India, I decided that an international degree in an English
speaking country, would improve my academic profile and also it would be easier
to get along in terms of communication. Another reason to have chosen this
country is because it is well known for providing quality education which draws
students from all over the world; it would help increase the scope of my
employment in Multinational Corporations not only in India, but also in other
countries. It would also be a platform to improve both business management and
communication skills especially as there would be students across the world to
interact with.
Why Northumbria University
I came to understand that the Northumbria University has a peerless reputation
for emphasizing practical knowledge and innovation for its students and
promotes an excellent industry-institution relationship. It is with such an aim and
purpose that I look forward to seek an admission in this university. A Master’s
Degree from your university will give me updated knowledge to be competent in
this contemporary world.
Studying at Northumbria University has many advantages. Northumbria

If I join in NU, I will find that you are on a fast track that’s designed to take my
talent into the world of employment. 94.7% of Northumbria University graduates
are in work or further study 6 months after graduation and the University is
ranked 9th in the UK for the number of graduates in professional employment.
Many top community centres in India prefer employees who excel in both Service
Managers and Communication skills. Keeping this thought in mind, I decided to do
my higher education in an internationally recognized institute reputed with
providing quality education. I learned from various sources that United Kingdom
is a country that is known for providing great opportunities for international
students in improving their academic qualifications. In my search for finding an
appropriate institute in UK, I came across Northumbria University, which is
offering a programme in Business Analytics. When I went through the website of
this institution I was very well satisfied with the programme. It also includes
discipline specialization studies. At the end of the course, this programme would
provide me with the knowledge and competency required for the various roles
that are vital for a career in social science and will strengthen my acumen in
service management. I have also learned that upon completing this program, I
may pursue other degree or professional qualifications either in India or abroad.
Why this Course
I have always been fascinated by numbers since childhood. Choosing accounting
as a main stream in my Higher Secondary studies has provided me with strong
basics to pursue my under graduation in Commerce and I thought that a
specialization could back up my career . Having completed my ACCA qualification ,
my most preferred profession is to be an auditor for which Business Analytics is of
great help. More enterprises are incorporating Business Analytics for decision
making, aligning my career in this direction is essential for me to remain relevant,
effective and employable.
Many auditors are finding ways to gain deeper understanding of their clients’
organizations than ever through proper analysis. The greatest weakness of
auditors nowadays are the lack of knowledge with respect to big data
management. This makes the scope of course more promising. After doing some
research on Business Analytics I realized that I need to acquire additional
knowledge and this encouraged me to invest myself to learning Business
Analytics. Even ACCA has recently included an introduction to Big data
management into its syllabus and therefore a Masters in this field will be a boon
to my career.
Why UK
As I had my education from India, I decided that an international degree in an
English speaking country, would improve my academic profile. It would also be a
platform to improve both Business Management and communication skills
especially as there would be students across the world to interact with. Another
important aspect on deciding to study in United Kingdom was that, the country is
primarily native English speaking one and it would be easier to get along in terms
of communication. When I considered Europe as an option for my higher studies, I
felt that learning another language would prove to be more of a barrier and this
would make my studies and stay less productive. Another reason to have chosen
United Kingdom is because this country is well known for providing quality
education which draws students from all over the world. So apart from getting an
internationally recognized qualification it would help increase the scope of my
employment in Multinational Corporate institutions not only in India, but also in
other countries. Because of the above mentioned I felt that studying in United
Kingdom is the right choice, the course contents are suitably designed and it is
very practically oriented. More over the cost of living and tuition fee are
economical.
Future Plan
My family being my root support all time and I being the only child, is responsible
for taking care of the well-being of my parents, therefore after my education I
would prefer to continue with my own business in my home country along with
my Family.
After the successful completion of my course in UK, I will return to India. The
business analysis industry in India is in its emerging stage. I am confident that the
practical oriented training and experience will give me a better professional
opportunity in my home country. I am financially supported by my parents who
have sufficient income to take up my expenses in the UK. I am confident that my
academic records and practical knowledge combined with my eagerness exhibits
the zeal required to pursue MSc in Business with Business Analytics with
Advanced practice.
After completing my master’s from the UK, I will apply for the position of
Manager in Construction or Builders industry for some couple of years and I am
looking forward to earn min. INR 5 Lakh Annually. Then I will start building my
own business. My dream is to become an owner of famous business companies
like Abad Builders, Grasim Industries Ltd. And why I want work as a Manager after
the master’s program is that I need lot of experiences. I want to be one of the top
companies and I will. That I can easily achieve by the successful study at the
University of Northumbria.
Conclusion
I believe that I am a true achiever, who has improved and enhanced my
capabilities at each stage in life through hard work and practical knowledge. This
has helped me emerge stronger and more capable. I sincerely admit that all
written above is with the best of my knowledge and true. I will obey all rules of
the university and country once I am there. I am a strong competitive candidate
to be in your esteemed University. I am very sure I will excel and justify my
selection. I hope the admission council will consider my application considering
my positives.
