PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Pointed Frequencies
by Niculin Barandun, Ben Kaczor, Marie Sutter

Audio Visual Concert

1ch FullHD or 4k Video Projection

Stereo Sound
Duration: 40’00’’

In «Pointed Frequencies», viewers access audiovisual compositions based on frequencies used in

sound therapy. The project brings together artists who merge their different dialects of research in a
live audiovisual performance. Pointed Frequencies develops a form of improvisational interplay in
which moving image and sound create a multidimensional space in a sensitive interaction.

The interdisciplinary cooperation of image and sound connects the personal backgrounds and the
artistic language of the participants. Individual personal styles come together in the project to form a
common audiovisual language. Improvisation is the central design process at the heart of this
interdisciplinary collaboration. A symbiosis of the two levels occurs, in which image and sound
in uence and inspire each other.

An immersive journey through artful soundscapes and mesmerizing visual worlds that invites you to
experience sensations of intimacy, sensitivity and movement. Where moods of calm and
contemplation, beauty and melancholy can meet unconventional and stochastic scenarios of a
dramatic character.

Flexum
by Luis Sanz

Audio Visual Performance

1ch FullHD or 4K Video Projection
Stereo Sound
Duration: 40’00’

Luis Sanz's work is characterised by a fascination with computer noise and signal processing. His
work is often extreme and exhilarating, using both software and modular analogue systems to create
dense electronic textures.

Sanz's latest audiovisual work, Flexum, departs from his usual approach. Instead of focusing on
dense sonic textures and uncompromising explorations of noise and extreme computer music, Sanz
delves into processes of modulation and rhythmic pattern generation. He uses his own compositional
interface to generate visual and sonic patterns, prioritising structured processes over improvisation.

In a sense, Flexum represents the constantly evolving nature of Sanz's artistic practice, which
continues to explore the intersection between digital synthesis and computer graphics. Through the
use of custom software, Sanz continues to challenge himself and his audience, offering a visually
mesmerising and sonically intricate piece.

Visual Artist, Photographer, London/Basel *1994

Marie Sutter is a Franco-German photographer

and visual artist born in Basel and based in
London. Specializing in visual arts, she explores
the meaning of identity, the notion of taboos in
the digital world and their impact on us. She
explores the diversity of the concept of light and
color through technology. Marie develops a
language of color to convey challenging ideas
about mental illness, the subconscious, lust,
unspoken desires and fear. Marie is interested in
facilitating audiovisual performances to guide
the audiences through sound and music using
light and color frequencies to emphasize the
relaxing and therapeutic live setting created with
the performance. In order to help the audience
to completely detach from the outside world,
Marie creates a base of abstract video content,
which can be reminiscent of dream stills, but
which the audience can freely use as a
complementary anchor to the sound
frequencies.

Sutter acquired a Master’s Degree in Photography with Specialisation in Moving Image at the Royal
College of Art in London and a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Media at Zürich University of the Arts and
has graduated the Preparatory Course in Art and Design Photography at the School of graphic
Design in Basel.

In recent years she has produced and directed several short lms and installative works that have
been shown in venues and events such as Visarte (Basel CH), Jewish Museum New York (New York
US), Lewisham Arthouse (London UK), Gallery DOCK (Basel CH), Royal College of Art (London UK),
Gallery Tate Modern (London UK), Salon de la Mondialité (Torino IT), ZHdK (Zurich CH) and Nida Short
