Dear Nursing Recruitment Officer,

I am writing to you today to apply for the open position of Registered Nurse in the Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit. I was thrilled to see your posting on the Banner Health website. I’ve been
eager to apply for your summer cohort in the New Nurse Experience Program. I have a huge
interest in become an RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Banner University Medical
Center in Tucson upon graduation from the University of Arizona College of Nursing in August
2023. Following the intensive academic schedule and clinical training of my BSN program, I
believe that I can provide compassionate and careful care to neonatal patients. With my passion
for neonatal care and critical care, I am committed to providing comprehensive care to patients
and their families.

During nursing school, I worked as a postpartum doula. In this position, I helped parents during
their transition into home life with a newborn. Postpartum doula support can look like education
on newborn sleep, sleep safety education, and newborn feeding. It is important to provide
emotional support to the parents as well as adjusting to parenthood can be challenging.

Before the start of nursing school, I worked as a Certified Medical Assistant at Banner Children’s
Multi-specialty Services in Tucson for five years. This position gave me experience in working
with pediatric patients of all ages and with a variety of diagnoses. The clinic held a specialty
clinic called Newborn Development, which followed graduated NICU babies every six months
until two years of age. Working along side a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, has allowed me the
opportunity to gain a deep understanding about the individualized needs that newborns require
during and after their time in the NICU.

During my education, clinical rotations, and preceptorship, I developed the necessary skills to
care for patients requiring critical care. Patients in critical care units require continuous care, and
they are under the care of many interprofessional team members. Rotations in high acuity units
like ICU, PICU, and Cardiac PCU, have taught me vital skills like organization and effective
communication.

I believe that my experience and skill set will make me a meaningful addition to the Banner
University Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse. Thank you for
your consideration; I look forward to speaking with you about this opportunity.

Sincerely,

Nellie Del Toro
