CASE STUDY #1

1. How do you feel after reading the situation? Do you know someone who
experienced the same thing?
After reading Chandra’s situation, I felt sad for her because she has
to experienced these things that can challenge and change their life as a
family. However, these challenges are also experiencing by the other family
who are lack of money to support their daily needs in life. So, it is really a
common problem of a Filipino family but in her case, they had the money
before until they struggle. I also knew someone who are challenged
emotionally and financially but their case is different because my friend is
the one who are providing for their family through paying their bills and
supporting his studies. So, he is the one who are experiencing the burden
to provide and to support his family.

2. If you were in Chandra’s situation, what can you do differently? 

Well if I am in Chandra’s situation, I would try to look for part time
job and other opportunities to support my studies and help my family for
our daily needs. I will try to look for an income even though it was not
enough to support all of our finances but it can help to lessen it and to
support my own studies. Since we are studying BTVTEd, we can look for a
part time job that is align in our course like being an ESL teacher and doing
commissions just like what I am doing now to buy the things that I want to
have.

3. How important is stable work for a family? student like you?

Stable work is one of the most important things that a family must
have. You can’t provide or meet the basic needs and necessities of your
family if you don’t have a stable work and I believe that you don’t have a
right to have your own family if you are not stable enough when it comes to
financially and emotionally. If you are not stable financially, you and your
family will suffer and struggle to survive the life. It is important for a
student like me that my family has a stable income because without their
help and money support I can’t do anything that I want, especially finishing
the degree that I desire.
