Question tags are grammatical elements that are placed at the
end of a sentence in the form of a short question and whose
structure is opposed to the previous sentence. That is, if a
sentence is affirmative, the question tag that accompanies it will

be negative, and vice versa. For example, in: Your son is growing
up so fast, isn't he? (Tu hijo está creciendo muy rápido, ¿no?) The
first sentence states that the son is growing up so fast, while
the final question is expressed in the negative.

Question tags are used to make the interlocutor agree with the idea put forward or to
express his or her opinion on the subject. One of their main characteristics is that they are
more common in spoken language than in written language.
QUESTION TANGS GRAMMAR
A question tag is a small question at the end of a statement.
Question tags are used when asking for agreement or confirmation.

When the statement is affirmative, the tag is negative, and when the
statement is negative, the tag is affirmative. Use the same tense or modal in
the question tag as in the main statement.
