Stranded Knitting Llama Hat

Robyn Fiori

A llama or alpaca hat for those trendy touque wearers out there! The hats here use a nice durable
washable worsted weight yarn to ensure they hold up to all your cold-weather activities. These hats
look amazing, but if you’re not zooming down a toboggan hill at least once a week, you’re not wearing it
right!

Abbreviations: K knit
P purl
K2tog knit two together

Yarn: If you’re pulling yarn from your stash, make sure the weights work well to ensure a
consistent tension and a nice smooth transition between colours.

Adult hat 1 Impeccable (Thunder, True Grey, Pale Grey)

Adult hat2 Impeccable (Soft Taupe, Heather)
Toddler hat Impeccable (Soft Taupe, Heater), Red Heart Super Saver (coffee)

Needles: 4.0 mm (size 6) double pointed needles

4.5 mm (size 7) double pointed needles
[or whatever size is needed for gauge]
To slightly increase or decrease the size of the hat, adjust the size of your needles.

Gauge: Using the larger size needles: 17 stitches and 24 rows makes a 10 cm (3.9 inch) square
Note: My finished hat came out with a 53 cm (21 inch) diameter. The fabric will relax, so don’t
be worried if the hat feels a little snug to start. You can stretch it overnight over a pot if
you want it to speed the process.
