1. What is a hotel?
Hotel is known as a commercial establishment offering lodging to travelers and
sometimes to permanent residents, and often having restaurants, meeting rooms, stores,
etc., that are available to the general public.

2. Different kind of hotels

Spa Hotel: is a type of accommodation with special services and heated


swimming pools, especially for relaxing with the family or partner.
Boutique Hotel: is a hotel characterized by their uniqueness in terms of design,
location or special service. They are usually located in monumental buildings
with a very marked design character.

Luxury hotel: It is the type of hotels with the highest starts and category, also
count with luxury services as individual pools, Jacuzzi, etc. they are the best
hotels in terms of quality and are usually located in privileged places within each
destination.
Family Hotel: those hotels are intended for family vacations. They have
activities for children and adults; also they’re ideal for spending family
vacations since all ages have their recreational areas and the rooms are prepared
to welcome everyone.
Urban Hotels: are the hotels within the cities and have a privileged location
within them. Guest can enjoy all the charms of the city just a step away from the
center. Without having to travel.
Adults Hotels: are the hotels were only adults are allowed. Specialized service
facilities and the comforts of this type of environment.
Resort hotel: these have common facilities designed for activities and
relaxation. Examples of these are many of hotels in the Caribbean, where
customer can find a wide range of activities to enjoy their stay without leaving
the hotel.
Hotels for events: these hotels have special facilities such as convention rooms,
conference rooms with integrated equipment and everything necessary to hold
company events.
All inclusive hotels: are the kinds of hotels that have a lodging regime where
everything is included; Foot and drinks. They’re also increasingly used in all
hotels around the world.

3. Characteristics of hotels?

The most important characteristics in a hotel are the qualities about rooms, the
pool and beach also, food and restaurants, where is located and if it´s safe, the
activities the hotel included and the last one characteristic is the customer
service.
People usually search about its starts and comments in internet before booking a
reservation in a hotel, and those are the principle characteristics they look for.

4. How are categorize the hotels?


They are categorize for starts from one to five and also for size in Small – Number of rooms
available a maximum of 28 rooms, medium hotel – Number of rooms provided between
28-299 rooms and large hotel – Number of rooms provided by more than 300 rooms.

5. Different kind of rooms

The types of rooms in a hotel are such an important aspect that determinate the
numbers of stars of the establishment. Although other details as costumer
service have an influence. According to the size and distribution of the space,
there are:
Individual or single rooms: a room for a guest with a single bed. Depending on
the category of the hotel, the living space can vary between 8 to 14 square
meters.
Twin or double rooms with single beds: it´s a room for 2 people, also is main
feature is that it has two single beds, and there are more rooms depending of the
amount of bed for example 3 beds are triple rooms, 4 quadruple, etc.
Family rooms: they differ from the others by being spacious and admitting the
possibility of extra beds, including small single beds for children.
Shared bedrooms: They are the ones that hotels usually offer; in which there is
possible sleep in rooms with people who do not previously know each other.
Often the beds are arranged in bunk beds.
Master suite: the most luxurious in the hotel complex, with more space and
service than the rest.

6. Department of hotels
Hotels have different departments, depending on their size and the services they
offer. Large luxury hotels often have more departments with specialty functions
than hotels that have limited amenities for guests. Small hotels may also
combine the functions of some departments because of low demand. Here are
some of the common departments that you can expect at many hotels:

Housekeeping include: housekeeper, floor supervisor, deputy housekeeper, linen room


supervisor.

Front desk agent include: Receptionist, guest services manager, concierge, porter).
Event planning include: event manager, hotel group coordinator, meetings coordinator,
banqueting manager, conference services manager, event planner.

And Executive chef: line cook, catering manager, kitchen manager.

7. What is a vacation club?


A vacation club is a type of timeshare.
Most vacation clubs are managed by a points system, where clients can make
their reservations. Depending on the type of membership that the person has
chosen, it will by total amount of points that they can use to pay for lodging
nights, food and beverage, among and other benefits.
Vacation clubs will often have more upscale resorts included in their portfolio,
and several clubs offer personalized concierge service throughout your stay on
club properties.

8. Differences between a hotel and a vacation club?

They look similar on the surface but there are plenty of differences between a timeshare
and a hotel. Hotels are booked on a singular basis; you book a room for a single period
of time, whereas timeshares offer long term memberships. Becoming a timeshare owner
means you gain priority access to your favorite timeshare resort.

9. What is a liner?
A hotel line is a group of companies or hotels grouped together, in the form of a
horizontal concentration, with different ownership and management formulas
whose purpose is to obtain greater profitability, a position of power, control and
prestige in the national and international markets
10.What is a closer?
Hotel rooms made unavailable from sales. Such a closed out could be for a
variety of reasons and applied to individual market segments. For instance dates
could be closed out for sales from lower priced segments during high demand
dates such as large trade-fairs or city wide events.
