Mangrove ecosystems are a type of forest that grows in brackish waters with muddy or sandy

substrates. Mangroves have strong roots to support their large size.

Mangroves have physical, biological, and economic functions. physical functions as abrasion barriers,
sediment deposition and maintaining water quality. biological functions as biota habitat, providing food,
and maintaining ecosystem balance. while its economic functions as a source of food and energy, as well
as aquaculture.

as the time goes, mangrove ecosystems are experiencing degradation, degradation that occurs can be
caused by natural or human factors. some human activities such as logging, freshwater drainage,
development and also pollution.

Therefore, proper management efforts are needed so that we can optimally utilize the mangrove
ecosystem while maintaining its sustainability. one of them is mangrove ecotourism. mangrove
ecotourism is a type of tourism that applies the concept of environmental conservation, and provides
education to tourists related to preserving the mangrove ecosystem.
