GROUP ASSIGNMENT (20%)

OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The main objective of this assignment is to enhance students understanding of financial

accounting practices in the specialized industry. Specifically, the objective of this
assignment is to analyse the accounting practices in TWO (2) specialised industries.
Students will be assessed in terms of their cognitive, practical, and personal skills in
evaluating the report.

REQUIRED:

1. Form a group project (4-5 students in one group).

2. Select only TWO (2) companies from any TWO (2) industries (i.e., Construction
Contracts, Aviation, Oil and Gas, and Financial Instruments). Note: Different companies
for different groups.
3. Elaborate the background of the TWO (2) industries.
4. Discussion on findings related to the following accounting treatment:
a. Definition
b. Recognition
c. Measurement
d. Disclosure
5. Conclusion.

FINAL REPORT
1. Prepare a written final report and submit via UUM Online in pdf form.
2. The written report must consist of all sections that comprise of Introduction, Findings,
Conclusions.
3. A Turn-it-In assignment submission will be set up with 25% acceptable similarity
level.
4. Format for the report: Microsoft Word, Times News Roman, size 12, double spacing.
Number of pages: Maximum 20 pages (inclusive all). You may select the best and
relevant evidence to be included in the Appendix section.
5. The submission date for the final report is 3 July 2023, Monday, 11.59 midnight.
