GENERAL AIMS:
By the end of the lesson
 students will be able to write plural forms according to the rules
 students will be able to use the plurals in communicative activities

PROCEDURE

ACTIVITY 1 – CONVERSATION
Objective: To increase students’ attention
Warm-up
Time: 2’
Procedure: Teacher attends the pupils and ensures a friendly atmosphere so that the students
might feel encouraged to fully participate in the class. (greetings, teacher’s presentation, “How
are you?”). In order to make sure the students pay attention and focus on the lesson, the teacher
starts a short conversation with the Ss.

ACTIVITY 2 – WARM UP
Objective: - to increase students’ attention towards the topic of the lesson
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-Ss
Skills: speaking
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue
Time: 8’
Procedure: The teacher shows SS five envelopes. Each envelope contains a picture that indicates
a noun. She also draws 5 columns on the board according to the 5 types of plural in English. She
writes the title on the board (Plurals) .The SS copy the chart and then, in turns, they choose an
envelope, go to the board and write the nouns from the picture under the correct heading.
Simultaneously, they write down in their notebooks. Afterwards, SS are asked to come up with
other nouns that fit in each column.

ACTIVITY 3 – Anna’s story- Reading


Objective: - to practice reading and to identify plural forms
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-Ss
Skills: reading, speaking, writing
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue
Time: 10’
Procedure: T invites the students to take turns in reading the text out loud (“Anna’s story”).
When they finish, they are asked to work in pairs in order to find and write the plural form of the
given nouns.

ACTIVITY 4 –Find the mistakes!


Objective: - to identify mistakes related to plural forms and correct them.
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Skills: speaking and listening
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue
Time: 10’
Procedure: Teacher gives Ss worksheet from Appendix 2 and announces that students are going
to work in pairs in order to correct the mistakes related to plural forms in each given sentence.
Afterwards, SS are invited to write on the board the correct sentences. T monitors the activity
and offers help if needed.

ACTIVITY 5 – QUIZ
Objective: - to say the correct plural form
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Skills: speaking and writing
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue, conversation.
Time: 5’
Procedure: For this task, the teacher uses a quiz from Wordwall teaching resources. SS have to
look at the IWB and choose the correct plural form of the given nouns.
ACTIVITY 6 –Crossword
Objective: - to solve the crossword and find the secret words
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Skills: speaking and writing
Teaching techniques: explanation, dialogue, conversation.
Time: 5’
Procedure: The teacher explains SS that the last activity is about solving a crossword they have
in their worksheet. She sticks the poster on the board as well, so that students can take turns in
writing the correct plural form of the given nouns. When the crossword is completed, one student
has to say the secret words.

ACTIVITY 6 – FEEDBACK AND HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT


Objectives: to check Ss’ comprehension of the topics discussed during class
Interaction: T-Ss
Skills: speaking
Teaching techniques: dialogue, explanation
Time: 5’
Procedure:
 Teacher explains which the homework is. (to make a list of animal names that have an
irregular plural form)
 Teacher appreciates students’ behaviour during the class and gives grades for their
participation. Each student receives an owl sticker as a reward for their participation in
class.

ACTIVITY 7: DISMISS CLASS

Teacher says goodbye to the students and thanks them for their attention.
