The cornea is the white, transparent layer of the eye that allows light to pass through
it and refracts light. It also protects the interior of the eye from accidents.
The IRIS determines the colour of the eye, and the PUPIL is a small opening at the
centre of the iris that allows light to enter the eye. The IRIS acts like a shutter of a
camera, and controls the amount of light entering the eye.
Light enters the pupil and falls on a convex lens, which focuses all the light at one
point, which is called the retina. The retina contains lots of nerve cells that sense the
light, and send the message to the brain along the optic nerve.
Human eye is spherical in shape, has a white transparent wall called cornea, a
colourful part called iris, a small opening at the centre called PUPIL, and a
converging lens behind the pupil that focuses the light on retina.
