INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS:

1. This is a GROUP assignment.


2. Each group MUST consist of between 3-4 persons per group ONLY.
3. The report must consist of table of contents, acknowledgement, and content
of research, conclusion, references and appendices.
4. Please employ either Times New Roman (font size 12) or Arial (font size 11)
and justify alignment.
5. References format should be in APA formatting.
6. The report must be original. All works must been cited. Any form of
plagiarism will not be tolerated.
7. All submission must be in ENGLISH and submitted via email/Ufuture in PDF
format. Creativity is encouraged.
8. Delay in submission shall be treated as NON-SUBMISSION.

ASSIGNMENT OUTCOME:

Upon completion, students should be having the:

1. EMPLOY the relevant construction technology for above ground


architectural works and basic principles of structure for timber. (CO1)

2. ILLUSTRATE by using technical sketches, the relevant


construction technology for above ground architectural works. (CO2)
ASSIGNMENT DETAIL:

1. You are required to prepare a Case Study Report.

2. Select a building as your case study. The building can be a shopping mall,
mosque, academic building, or any other type of building that you find suitable
as your case study.

Question A
3. Select 3 areas within the building that you have selected, and then analyse the
chosen area’s architectural works, i.e.:
a. Wall finishes (types used and justification) (10 marks per area),
b. Floor finishes (types used and justification) (10 marks per area), and;
c. Ceiling Finishes (types used and justification) (10 marks per area).

(90 marks)

4. You are advised to meet/contact the owner/representative of the building in order


to gain information to answer Question 3.

5. The contents of your report shall include the followings:-


a. Background of the building. (10 marks)
b. Content (Question A and Question B) (90 marks each)
c. Conclusion, appendices, and overall structure of report (10 marks)
