INTRODUCTION
Midas Gen is an integrated solution system for building and general structures. With its
intuitive user interface, contemporary computer graphics and powerful solver, it enables
practicing engineers to undertake structural analysis and design for both simple and complicated
structures. Midas Gen's characteristics contribute to higher and unmatched levels of convenience,
Sumacab Campus, is a three-story RC building. This structure is around 3,561.6 m 2 in area along
with being 10.5 meters high, not including the roof height. It is used as a classroom/ laboratory/
guidance office/ faculty room and is classified as Special Occupancy Structure since it is a
building used for college or adult education with a capacity of 500 or more occupants according
to NSCP 2015 (Table 103-1. Occupancy Category). The building’s Seismic Importance Factor, I
is 1.0 (NSCP 2015 Table 208-1). The COE building 1 in NEUST Sumacab Campus is 19.5
kilometers from an unnamed active fault near Laur, Nueva Ecija that belongs to an unknown
Segment near the Philippine Fault line and is classified as Seismic Source Type A by the NSCP
2015 Section 208.4.4.2, a fault capable of producing large magnitude events with a high rate of
seismic activity. This fault was documented by PHIVOLCS' Faultfinder in 2000. A soil profile
This activity is a comparison of the vertical shear distribution of static forces using
manual computation and Midas Gen 2021 Software result. The goal is to be within 5% difference

Building Information:
COE Building 1 in NEUST Sumacab Campus under Seismic Source Type A (NSCP
2015 Table 208-4 Seismic Source Types), will utilize the Near-Source Factors (NSCP 2015
Table 208-5), Na = 1.0 and Nv = 1.0 since it is 19.5km to the closest distance to known seismic
source. The near-source factor is not in between closest distance values, the value is not
Na = 1.0
The COE building 1 in NEUST Sumacab Campus with Soil Profile Type S d and Z=0.40,
will utilize the Seismic Response Coefficients (NSCP 2015 Table 208-7 to 8), Ca = 0.44Na and Cv
= 0.64Nv.
Ca = 0.44 Cv = 0.64
T = 0.0731 (10.5)3/4
V= 5999.52477 kN
V= 4396.822294 kN - GOVERNS
Total design base shear shall not be less than the following.
V = 1644.411538 kN
In addition, for Seismic Zone 4, the total base shear shall also not be less than the following.
Vgovern = 4396.822294 kN
