Netflix is an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top
streaming television service owned and operated by Netflix, Inc., a
company based in Los Gatos, California. It offers films and
television series from various genres, and it is available in multiple
languages.
Netflix was launched on January 16, 2007, nearly a decade after
Netflix, Inc. began its DVD-by-mail service. With over 232 million
paid memberships in more than 190 countries, it is the most-
subscribed video on demand streaming service. By 2022, original
productions accounted for half of Netflix's library in the United
States, and the company had ventured into other categories, such
as video game publishing via the Netflix service.
