Multimedia Lesson Idea
Description of Software: A digital program that allows users to create and upload podcasts.
☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Teacher simply
facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.
gather information about the topic. We will then brainstorm as a class for students to collect
their thoughts to create their own podcast. After brainstorming and gathering their ideas and
information, I will model the procedure and making of the podcast and how to record your
audio file for the podcast. I will be available for questions and to provide extra help if needed
and students will begin creating their own podcast.
Managing Student Learning:
By listening to the podcasts designed by the teacher, the students will be asked to notice
things about the podcast and how it helps us learn and why it can be very useful in learning
about topics. As students start creating their own podcasts, they will be applying what
they’ve been learning not only about the topic being covered, but what they’ve learned
about podcasts and their importance throughout the lesson. Students will have 20-30
minutes to collab and share their ideas with classmates and brainstorm and then they can
start their podcast.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: This lesson supports Universal Design for
Learning by ensuring that all accessibility needs are met and that students are engaged in
their own learning. By allowing students to either create an audio file or video podcast,
students can choose the path that makes them successful in learning.
Reflection: I think this will be a fun lesson for students to engage in because they’re getting
to create something that is their own. I personally think that students are more successful in
learning when they are involved in hands-on activities and enjoying the learning process,
which is why this lesson is a perfect way for students to learn about a topic and technology.
