RisingHF ST Nucleo LoRa Sensor V2 Test Report

1 Preamble
ST Nucleo LoRa Sensor shield is based on RisingHF’s LoRaWAN modem RHF0M003. RHF0M003 is a
high performance high integration module with global LoRaWAN protocol embedded which support
EU433, EU868, CN470, AS923, CN779, US915, AU915, IN865 and KR920.
This doc would include most of the basic test data, like power consumption, transmitter output power
(Txop), Frequency tolerance, Harmonic, sensitivity @ different data rate, PER loop test.

Figure 1- 1 ST Nucleo LoRa Sensor V2

2 Compliance test matrix

Here is the summary table on the compliance of the completed tests.
As the ST Nucleo LoRa Sensor v2 with RHF0M003-LF20 could support LF(433/470MHz) and which
with RHF0M003-HF20 could support HF(868/915MHz) band, we will separate the test results into two
parts here. For LF band, test in CN470 will be as an example. For HF band, test in US915/AS923 will
be as an example.

3 Power Consumption Test

For the Sensor shield, there will be 4 different modes with different current, which are Sleep, Standby,
Rx and Tx mode.

4 RF performance test
4.1 Tx performance test
Tx performance test include Frequency tolerance, Txop, Harmonic and Spectrum in LoRa mode.

4.1.1 Tx performance of ST Nucleo LoRa Sensor v2

4.1.1.1 Tx performance in CN470
1) Frequency tolerance
A 32.000MHz XTAL with tolerance less than 10ppm is used as reference clock for the RF signal in the
sensor shield. So the RF frequency tolerance should be less than +/-10ppm in normal temperature.
For example, we set the Sensor shield to output 470.000MHz CW signal, we get a signal
@469.9988MHz. The frequency tolerance is 10^6*(469.9988-470.000)/470.000=-2.55ppm.

5 Performance test in temperature chamber

The performance test would be made in a temperature chamber and the temperature would cover from
-40 to +85℃. The frequency tolerance should be less than 20ppm compare to the result in normal
temperature +25℃. The txop and sensitivity variation should be less than 3dB.
