LR REQUIRED DRAWINGS &

DOCUMENTS

Part 6 & Part 7, Chapter 1, Section 1


2.4.1 Plans covering the following items are to be submitted:

1. Midship sections showing longitudinal and transverse material.


2. Profile and decks.
3. Shell expansion.
4. Oil-tight and watertight bulkheads.
5. Propeller brackets.
6. Double bottom construction.
7. Pillars and girders.
8. Aft end construction.
9. Engine room construction.
10. Engine and thrust foundations.
11. Fore end construction.
12. Hatch cover construction.
13. Deckhouses and superstructures.
14. Stern frame.
15. Rudder, stock and tiller.
16. Equipment.
17. Loading Manuals, preliminary and final (where applicable).
18. Scheme of corrosion control (where applicable).
19. Ice strengthening.
20. Welding schedule.
21. Hull penetration plans.
22. Support structure for masts, derrick posts or cranes.
23. Bilge keels showing material grades, welded connections and detail design.

2.4.2 The following supporting documents are to be submitted:

24. General arrangement.


25. Capacity plan.
26. Lines plan or equivalent.
27. Dry-docking plan.
28. Towing and mooring arrangements.
29. Sail/rigging plan, indicating loadings (as applicable to sailing craft).
2.4.3 The following supporting calculations are to be submitted:

30. Equipment Number.


31. Hull girder still water and dynamic bending moments and shear forces as applicable.
32. Midship section modulus.
33. Structural items in the aft end, midship and fore end regions of the craft.
34. Preliminary freeboard calculation.

4.3.1 A welding schedule containing not less than the following information is to be
submitted:

a) Weld throat thickness or leg lengths.


b) Grades, tempers, and thicknesses of materials to be welded.
c) Locations, types of joints and angles of abutting members.
d) Reference to welding procedures to be used.
e) Sequence of welding of assemblies and joining up of assemblies.

Part 4, Chapter 3, Section 1.1.1


In addition to the general plans and data required by Volume 3, Part 3, Chapter 1,
Section 5 the following details of additional structural components, particular to sailing
yachts, are to be submitted for appraisal:

35. Sail plan.


36. Mast loadings.
37. Bowsprit loadings.
38. Rigging loadings.
39. Mast step.
40. Mast partners.
41. Ballast keel lines plan.
42. Ballast keel securing arrangements.
43. Rudder skeg construction and support details.
44. Chainplates.
45. Through deck fittings.
Part 1, Chapter 2, Section 4
4.2 New construction surveys

4.2.1 When it is intended to build a craft for classification with LR, constructional plans and all
particulars relevant to the hull, equipment and machinery, as detailed in the Rules, are to be
submitted for the approval of the Committee before the work is commenced. Any subsequent
modifications or additions to the scantlings, arrangements or equipment shown on the
approved plans are also to be submitted for approval.
