 I. Reading Text
1. What does architecture concern with?
Architecture is concerned with the design and construction of buildings in their
sociological, technical and environmental contexts. There is increasing
recognition of architecture as one of the top intellectual disciplines, an art form,
and a technical profession intimately linked with the single largest sector of
investment in the economy.
2. Who are the Architects?
The Architects are the licensed professionals trained in the art and science of
building. They are involved in all the phases of the construction of a building i.e.
the functional, safety, economical and have to satisfy the needs of its occupants.
3. What does Architects do at work?
The Architects are responsible for the planning, designing and supervision of
construction works for houses, office buildings, skyscrapers, landscapes, and even
entire cities. It is a challenging job for the architect to produce an artistically
pleasing design within the budget specified by the clients.
4. From which part Architects start their job?
The Architect needs to start from scratch by producing the sketches of the
building, its floor plans elevation etc. And once it is approved he needs to work on
the estimation of the project. He or she has to get the necessary documents
pertaining to the town planning from local authorities. And then once the work
commenced, he or she needs to visit the site, supervise the work and do all other
work needed to complete the construction.

II. Please make a paragraph explaining about “Architecture” by your own words !
Architecture is a passion, a vocation, a calling as well as a science and a business. It
has been described as a social art and also an artful science. Architecture must be of
the highest quality of design.
Architecture is everywhere. Each and every building: home, school, office, hospital
and supermarket were designed for their particular purpose. It is of vital importance
that these buildings, and in turn the environments they form and the neighbourhoods
and cities they are a part of, are designed to be the best possible buildings for their
specific context, use and the people who use them.
 Architecture also has the power to inspire and delight it can enhance everyday
experiences.
Architecture is the art and science of designing buildings and other physical
structures. A wider definition often includes the design of the total built environment
from the macro level of town planning, urban design, and landscape architecture to
the micro level of construction details and, sometimes, furniture. The term
“Architecture” is also used for the profession of providing architectural services.

III. Please complete the following dialogue by using Conditional Type 1 !

Adit: Hey Bayu, how are you? I haven't seen you for ages!
Bayu: I know. Time just flies, doesn't it?
Adit: You've got a new job, haven't you?
Bayu: Yes I have a new one, at last I have found what I have been expecting for so
long.
Adit: Good, now you feel very happy, dont' you?
Bayu: Of course I do. I'd like you to come to know my new work place. I'm sure you
would love to come, wouldn't you?
Adit: Yeah, but surely you're not allowed to receive guests, are you?
Bayu: don't worry, my boss is a nice guy, isn't he?
Adit: I guess.

VI. Make a descriptive paragraph based on your house plan!
Hello everyone, today I will tell you about a part of my house. My house is in Depok,
located between 2 vacant land and not far from the Mosque.
The building area of this house is 6m x 13m. In the front yard, planted with guava
trees and decorated with various other plants. My house is blue and the fence is gray.
If you come into my house, you will find a terrace covered by yellow ceramic. This
colour gives the impression of a warmer and more comfortable room, and does not
affect the light. On the terrace there is also a rectangular outdoor carpet with a
combination of bright colors. Next beside the terrace you will find a carport with
ceramic tile from printed concrete.
After passing through the terrace we will enter the living room with gray walls. Grays
with cool tones are higher and also have an architectural feel that can really brighten
and open up a space. In the living room there is a pink sofa and a square table. Next,
there is 1 master bedroom with one bathroom in it. In the back room, you will find a
kitchen and toilet.
Next, let's go up to the second floor. The stairs are made of old coconut wood. Old
coconut wood has advantages when used as wooden blocks, namely in terms of
durability or strength. This wood has its own aesthetic value, namely from its texture
and fiber.
On the second floor there is one family room and 4 bedrooms which are still empty
because I only live alone with my wife in this house. Then at the front you will find a
balcony which I usually use to relax and see the view. Next, in the back room there is
also a kitchen and a drying room for drying clothes. This drying room is equipped
with a washing machine and red brick floors to absorb water well. That's an
