Dear MUN Advisors,

The 28th Annual South American Model United Nations (SAMUN) will take place this year from Thursday, November 9
to Saturday, November 11, 2017. This year, for the first time, the conference will be held at Colegio Internacional de
Carabobo (CIC) in Valencia.  We are looking forward to welcoming your students and providing them with a challenging
educational experience. At this time, we would like to share with you details of the program, logistics, and registration.
Information about fees and payment will be sent separately. We ask that your school respond with its delegation
information so that we can begin delegation assignments.

Model United Nations is a simulation of the activities of the United Nations. SAMUN (South American Model United
Nations) had its beginnings at Colegio Internacional de Caracas in November of 1991.It is a three-day simulation of the
United Nations for secondary students.  Each school is allocated a number of countries according to the number of
students who are participating.  The students then represent the ideologies, interests, and positions of that country in
their various committees at the conference.  The students will act as delegates for their assigned country, representing it
throughout the three days with the purpose of seeking, through discussion, negotiation, and debate, common solutions
to the problems presented in the “issues” of the conference.

The conference provides an excellent opportunity for delegates to develop their English-language debating, research,
negotiation, social, and interactive skills in a formal environment with other young people from around the country. All
the delegates will come together with the single purpose of seeking solutions, leading them to a better understanding of
actual conflicts between nations and developing real international cooperation.

Country Assignments:    Country assignments will be prepared for allocation to those schools that have confirmed their
participation. Countries are allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis to registered participating schools. Once
confirmation is received, we will distribute a list of the available delegations and the committees/council to choose from.
This list will be updated as registrations are received.

Lodging: Reservations are to be made by your school and directly with the hotel of your choice. The following hotels have
