MPM2D iving linear system: hin A linear system in our course will refer to two linear equations involving two variables. ‘We can solve a linear system by determining values for the variables that satisfy both of the equations. We can represent the solution to a linear system as the point of intersection of two linear relations. Stes stem, > determine the slope and one point (or determine any two points) on each line > plot both lines on the same grid and identify the coordinates (x, y) of their point of intersection ‘We can check the solution to a linear system by substituting the solution back into each equation. Ex. Solve the following linear systems by graphing. Check the solution algebraically. xty=5 0 and x-2y=14 ye-xtS -2ye-ix 4 - r2y erin tl <2 =e slope =| y-int (9S) slope = yont (4-7) Fak (xy)=(%-3) if x-29 =14 s R22) =14 es ol Ls=RS 4 =14 Lg =RS Bx Solve the linear system x—4y+20=0and2x+3y+18=0. -1] a ~Hye-lx-20 arr 7 By =~ 2x18 [Gun = 12,2) | Ex.
