𝑚
where 𝜌𝑠0 is a constant.

2) Find the electric field 𝑬 for the electric potential given by 𝑉 = sin 𝜃 cos ∅.
𝑟2

3) State the boundary conditions for electric field and magnetic field in terms of the tangential and
normal components (statements and equations).

4) An electron with velocity 𝒖 = (4𝒙 ̂ + 3𝒛̂) × 105 [𝑚⁄𝑠] experiences no net force at a point
̂ − 12𝒚
̂ + 20𝒛̂ [𝑚𝑇]. Find 𝑬 at that point.

in magnetic flux 𝑩 = 30𝒙

5) Find the magnetic field 𝑯 at the center (point 𝑃 (0, 0, 0)) of a square loop conductor with current
𝐼 as shown in Fig. 5 below. Each side is of the square 40 𝑐𝑚 in length, and the conductor carries
a current of 5𝐴 in clockwise direction when the loop is viewed from top side.

7) Given that the vector magnetic potential is 𝑨 = 𝒙
magnetic flux density 𝑩.

8) A coil consists of 10 turns of wire wrapped around a square frame of sides 0.25 m. The coil is
centered at the origin with each of its sides parallel to 𝑥-𝑦 axis. Find the induced emf across the
open circuited ends of the coil if the magnetic flux density is given as ⃗𝑩
⃗ = 𝒛̂ 10 𝑒 −2𝑡 [𝑇].

9) A long straight co-axial cable lying along the z-axis is carrying current 𝐼 [𝐴] in the inner conductor
and current −𝐼[𝐴] in the outer conductor. The cross section of the cable with all dimensions is
shown in figure on the right. Find the magnetic field 𝑯 as a function of distance from the center

Hint: change “revolutions per minute” to rad/s (𝜔) first. Velocity of the bar is given by 𝒖 = ∅

12) A coaxial capacitor of l = 6 cm uses an insulating dielectric material with 𝜀𝑟 = 9. The radius of the
cylinders are 0.5 cm and 1 cm. If the voltage applied across the capacitor is
𝑉 (𝑡) = 50 𝑠𝑖𝑛 (120𝑡) [𝑉],
